It would make it easier to cheat in games if the game has a spectator mode like in KZ2. One person playing in game and one in spectator calling out enemy positions.
It would definitely make it easier to group up with friends too. To bad that image is a fake and the actual site does not have that line in it. Looks like they did some editing to get hits.
Because Sony's showing was too big. This is why their E3 showing couldn't be contained within a small conference. It had to be pushed out before E3, through the conference, & after the conference.
Sony may think this is not a huge announcement. It's only a small feature after all. Besides conference was quite long (2 hours), and watching Newell showing the first footage of Portal 2 on PS3 and announcing Steam work integration >> chatting
Just because they had 10 minutes left doesn't mean they weren't running ahead of schedule. If they didn't include it during the big section about PSN+, it was because they wanted people excited about it, and not just complaining that it's a premium feature.
huh so all those arguments literally 5 minutes ago about how PSN+ doesnt have x-game voice chat??? what to do with them now?? ohh and not being able to listen to any music while playing any game...yeah the service has that with a streaming music service available through PSN+
I suspect it is error btw, it'll be in a FW update for ALL users. There was a LOT of negative feedback about x-game chat being a premium-only feature all over the internet.

Yes, I do want that. I would like Xbox LIVE to have these as a free option, but I don't. Now, I'm going to be paying another $50 to use the same feature, just on a different console. Considering they're the same price, and the majority of the PS3 community does not use a bluetooth headset, let alone does it come bundled with a PS3, why would I pay $50 for it?
That's funny. 360 users pay for it, why can't PS3 owners do the same? Is Xbox Live free now? The answer is no. If cross-game chat ends up free on PSN, even more bragging rights for PSN users will ensue. Is this really what you want?

how they have it worded sounds like PSN + " even if they aren't members of PlayStation Plus." meaning if your a member you can talk to user who are not members but thats the strange thing if they are in a game and you are to, so i am guessing the next FW will give the option to all but only access able to + members, and it unlocks to people who don't have it if they get invited by members
If it is true I can see them doing it exactly like that. Allow PSN+ members to chat whenever they want to regular PSN users tempting them to get the service.

Can someone explain to me why cross-game chat for PS3 has been such a huge demand? If you want to talk to someone who's playing a different game than you are, then why not just call that person on a cell phone or something.
Umm.. What? In a private chat, only those that are actually in the chat can hear each other. So you'll hear LESS conversations while playing online. Unless you were talking about your friends, in which case, you don't have to accept their invitations.
Still point is this is Sony never announced 'features' that everyone will get no mater what at E3. Everyone forgets it is a show about games more then anything. Only PSN+ stuff they showed was game and content related. Like I'v been telling people.
