Cnet: Hands-on with Microsoft's Kinect camera: what works, what doesn't

Cnet: The first thing Cnet noticed was that the Kinect hardware was visually very close to the demo devices seen as far back as E3 2009, despite rumblings from Microsoft reps during the year that the design was subject to change. It's a physically large device, and not as easy to blend into a home entertainment center as a thin Wii sensor bar.

They seem to like it. But the kinectimals sounds kind of lame, guess it's for kids. They were somewhat critical, which is good. I trust CNet for hardware reviews.

Kinectimals is MS's EyePet.

My daughter would like it. I am buying EyePet when it comes to US. Probably how I'll get it is the PSEye/Move/EyePet bundle.

Skittles didn't seem to be accurately responsive as it should of been. A lot of "talking and emotion" from the little girl, but clearly the animal wasn't listening. All those "Good Boys", the "Be Careful!!!",,...The tiger would of did his own thing anyway. Did the tiger come when she said COME or when she wiggled her fingers? Who knows. I would get this for any little kid with a 360. It's cute and more achievements for you.

Unfortunately that was a pre-canned event. It showed off the potential of the game, but would have been better with a live demonstration.

@Person who disagreed above. The Kinectimals portion was pre-canned. The girl's hand placement rarely lined up to what was actually shown on screen. No problem with that to ensure a good presentation, just need to read what people talk about in regards to showroom demonstrations for a better feel on its performance.

People are still talking about the MS conference?

Nintendo is the new buzz now, Kinect is DOA.

Kinect is so last-gen! 3D gaming for the future!
