The PS Eyetoy inspired MS, period.

Can one sue over this? Same name, same concept, and some of the games are the same...

GWAVE2959d ago

After seeing the Kinect demonstrations today, can Microsoft or its fanboys really say anything? Anything at all?

Kinect is Eyetoy. Nothing more and nothing less. Microsoft's E3 conference this year was horrible, which is really saying something since Microsoft tends to get everyone hyped up about the smallest things.

If you think Kinect is the exact same thing as the Eyetoy your a complete moron.

UltimateIdiot9112959d ago (Edited 2959d ago )

And if you think it's vastly superior to the Eye toy, you're delusional.

Add all the glitter and gold you want but the basic use and concept is still the same. It's not adding anything new.

Until the day the Kinect does something new and different (like an actual noticeable and huge different and not some extra dimension blah blah bs), it's perfectly valid to say it's not innovating or revolutionary in anyway and similar to the Eye toy.

SEGA had something called the DreamEye, if anything all game based camera tech is based off that.

I don't think the author of this article has heard of something called "Kinetic Energy".

It is KINECT NOT KINETIC....either way it is a horrid name that most of the press is getting wrong.

This may help for any future confusion

Although the name is similar the article is complete fail:

"Is it a mere coincidence that Microsoft has officially labled their “controller free” motion technology for the Xbox 360 “Kinetic” when Sony has released a motion control game by the same name 5 years ago?"

but microsoft didn't name natal 'kinetic' they named it 'kinect' lol please research next time, although i do agree that the names are similar but could just be a coincidence.
