Why the Next Hitman Should Go Open World

47 wakes up in a grotty hotel. Stepping out onto the balcony, he equips his binoculars and sees his target in an apartment across the street. The slaphead sociopath waits until the man finishes his breakfast, exits his building and starts driving to work. After hotwiring the most inconspicuous vehicle he can find, the assassin starts to tail him, keeping a safe distance until he gets to work. It’s a non descript office building, though handily, sits across from a nearby clock tower with a handy sniping spot.

Then it would be just like Assassin's Creed. I like the different settings better but they need to guide you a little better. Its gameplay is too much trial & error based to be any fun.

HolyOrangeCows5063d ago

Traveling in Assassin's Creed was such a chore.

I hope not open world games are mostly travel and search i like hitman just the way it is it aint broke dont fix it only open world games i loved were kotor , jade empire and crackdown for the co op joy.

cpuchess5063d ago

I hope so, linear game play makes it the same ole thing everytime you play it. I want an open world to explore and do my own thing outside the mission.

Hellsvacancy5063d ago

What do u think Mr 47 does with his spare time go to the movies, get a hair cut, go buy sum cloths or perhaps pop down to Mc Donalds for a Bic Mac?

No, id much rather they upped the Enemy AI, made the levels bigger with far more ways to kill who-ever needs killin, i dont wanna vehicles or a GTA type world, keep it simple but advanced

cpuchess5063d ago (Edited 5063d ago )

Probably the same as Niko Belic when not doing the missions

Shane Kim5063d ago

Agree with Hells. Far from every game needs to be open world to be enjoyed.

Hellsvacancy5063d ago (Edited 5063d ago )

As im the BIGGEST Hitman fan EVER Hitman V should NOT b open world, if it aint broke dont fix it just work on what youve already got, its a classic series that shouldnt b messed around with

I cant wait for Hitman V, seriously, CANT WAIT!!!

some games are best when open world, some best in linear fashion. the linear path allows the story to follow the way the developer intended. i think hitman simply isn't one of those games that should be set in an open world setting. the thing that makes hitman series special is the diversity of levels. if it were to move to an open world setting, usually they will have to set a common theme on the sandbox, which takes away the diversity of the series. i think the previous hitman games nailed it right, create a linear level while allowing players to progress in a non-linear fashion.

edit: a disagree eh? anyone with a better argument?
