CVG: Crysis 2, de Blob news hints at conference disclosure
I'll care about 3D the next time I need a TV.
I purchased a 55 inch led tv about 6 months ago. I don't see me, or any other person who bought an hdtv in the last two years, upgrading just for 3d. Before HDTV, people didn't go out and buy a new tv every two years, so why does everyone think that they will do that now?
Xbox 360, Jump IN the banwagon. Just bothers me that they dissed 3D before and now that they realize that it will be the next step for gaming now they are on board. Greenburg said he didn't like the idea of 3D in the home because there are distractions like his cell phone in the living room lol @below, Just give it a rest...
You forgot the "D" which actually stands for "Darkoniondumbass".. .
M$ already announced to the world back in April a 3D bundle package with LG...3D is a gimmick and a cash grab...3D tech without the glasses already exists...may not be cost effective but it's here...They all know...in 2-3 yrs, you will need to buy a new TV again..and a new console...Sony didn't invent 3D...get a grip...
HDMI 1.2 can't do 3D, unless you mean RED/BLUE 3D
Unless the new 360 will have a different spec HDMI. But then you'd be alienating the people with older machines. Guess we'll soon find out.
^that's what i'm thinking. the new 360 has hdmi 1.4
Is that a question or a confirmation? HDMI 1.4 is used with an HD format. Does DVD even do Real D technology?
it won't be as good as 3d from hdmi 1.3 and 1.4
I really don't think HDMI has anything to do with it. You can run a stereoscopic 3D signal through a VGA cable into an ancient CRT monitor on PC if you really wanted to.
It has to probably do with the amount bandwidth required. You can do 3D on a low bandwidth cable, but you will likely have to sacrifice resolution. As with your example, there is a maximum resolution that you can output through a VGA cable. You need some of the newer hdmi cables to do 1080p 3D video along with the necessary image refresh rates.
Yeah, but how many 360 games are going to be in 1080p at 60 FPS AND 3D? I've played games in stereoscopic 3D over a VGA cable at 1280 x 1024 at the monitor's full refresh rate of 100 hz and I didn't encounter any problems.
Accouncement: "Kinect has lenses that shoot 3D directly into your eyes." Result: Everyone in the audience dies /sarcasm
I rather Sony handle 3D thank you very much, after all they know what they're doing they make 3D TVs. Now wait for 360 fanboys to say 3D is the future after the catastrophic fail, of dare I say. "KINECT" Hypocrisy look it up.
Sony wants MS to go 3D so sony can sell more televisions. It isn't always about competition.
I'm sure that Sony (and other 3D TV manufactures) would love this. Potentially more 3D TV's sold. Also that's just great... I'll have two 3D capable systems and no TV to play them on. Hopefully there will be a pretty good deal in time for the holidays.
But Aaron say is not needed.. http://www.destructoid.com/... http://www.examiner.com/x-2...
the only way 360 is going to do 3d is if the new slim has hdmi 1.4, which leaves all current 360 owners out. hdmi 1.2 lacks the bandwidth for 3d.
lol at the disagrees... need proof? here. http://www.gamespot.com/xbo... as you can see, substandard 3d effects (that do nothing but leave you with a headache) are required for 3d on the xbox 360. you'll never get 120fps HD in 3D on the 360 like you see in ps3 games like super stardust hd 3d. even for games that do not use 120fps, the tv is able to interpolate the frames to 120fps so the flicker doesn't make your eyes bleed. HDMI 1.4 was established as the required standard for 3D, so all HDMI 1.4 TV's (every 3dtv coming out now) requires it for 3D input. so, unless you like 15fps headache inducing 3d like in avatar, you'll either need a 360 slim or a ps3.
I've really been skeptical about this "3D" thing. The fact that it's "possibly" going to be released for my console DOES NOT change that. That will be hypocrisy if it did.
To produce television that DON'T require glasses to see 3-D. To those saying Xbox 360 cant do 3-D. I was at E3 a few years ago and they had Gears of War 2 in FULL 3-D. I'm not a fan of 3-D, I tend to get migraines, but if I were going to invest in something 3-D it would be the kind where you don't need stupid glasses. I'm glad Microsoft is not going crazy with the 3-D stuff, they probably see it like most of us regular folk do, as a fad that comes and goes. Sony on the other hand has invested BILLIONS into it and have a lot riding on it. *Edit* as a side note, some of you 360 supporters need to bubble down the Sony fangirls who post and troll 360 topics and do nothing but negatively comment Microsoft. This isn't there place alone, it's a place for gamers. Bubble up your fellow MS supporters if you agree and don't be afraid to use the controls to report or bubble down trolls. *Edit #2* To those talking about company Hypocrisy, let's not forget in 2006 Sony said they "Were not into gimmicks" and basically laughed at Nintendo for using motion controls. Well, now nobody is laughing, just using their own "Gimmick" which is all motion controls and 3-D is. It's never going to catch on, but you would have to offer something to stay competitive. It's business people.
that glasses free tech is not only expensive, but won't be on the market until the next xbox is out. also, it's VERY limited. only 4 people can watch 2D tv at the same time with it, and only 2 people in 3D. and people complained about having to buy glasses for their family members! not to mention the 3D effect isn't as good and can only be seen when you're sitting dead center in front of the TV at a certain distance, unlike glasses that let you sit wherever you want in the room and still get the 3D effect.
MS just have better learnt from their big opps with HDDVD... and not come out with a standard which is not mainstream..
actually had microsoft been smart and not rushed the xbox out, they could have included an HD-DVD drive in the 360 and that would have seriously made for interesting things in the said format war.
well Sony themselves even said that microsoft is going to have to join the 3D bandwagon. at the end of the day that would be a good thing. Devs will see that these 2 console makers are serious about 3d and they might even standardize it in their games, so this announcement would really benefit the PS3 as well.
they should joined the bluray bandwagon first.
Nividia 3d Just has its own box for 3d to connect to the pc this is using usb so the glasses can sync to the box and not the tv ( i think but someone can correct if iam wrong ) so no need for hdmi Only thing needed is box, glasses, and 120hz tv. this How i think they will do 3d on 360 its only way to match the quality of 3d on ps3 unless slim 360 has better specs but thats unlikley.
there system doesnt have bluray to hold the capacity of double the info in there games 3d for ms will be made by the tv doing 3d which will probably make you sick
i predict alot of back tracking from 360 fanboys if they do.
Please accept this however you wish i only request an open mind. If you hold any regard for the pc's capability then the following information should mean something to those expecting 3d games on consoles. About a year ago now Nvidia the 3d graphic chip maker responsible for a large portion of the extreme pc graphics market, (also the maker of the gpu in the Ps3) released the Nvidia 3-d vision package along side a new set of drivers to allow consumers to incorporate 3d into almost every existing pc game as well as those in the future. Utilizing either the nvidia 3d vision package which involves battery operated glasses and an infra red frame sync transmitter,(great color quality) or the anaglyph 3d glasses you find in your average animated pixar movie. they have since been working on those drivers to make them better optimized to take full advantage of their different series of gpus. the only drawback to this 3d technology is the fact that running any game in 3d requires almost DOUBLE the processing power to run at the same speed. due to the admitted doubling of the render passes and workload. Unfortunately for those without a VERY high end gpu had to accept that we would have to give up either resolution, quality settings, or a few of the other settings in order to get our high end games to run at reasonable framerates in 3d. A real predicament that I cannot easily see a console Overcoming when a pc cannot especially when one of those consoles gpus was designed by the same company. look at the system requirements of Nvidias 3d vision See any 7 series cards in there? or even low end? http://www.nvidia.com/objec... great stuff but it dont come cheap.
your almost right but the gpu is not doing the work alone the cell is picking up the slack. And at this point in time people shouldn't be surprised by how well the cell can assist the gpu.
