E3 2010: Behind the Kinect Curtain

IGN writes: "For me, the highlight of the evening was watching Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki walk into the event in his white robe, taking in the scene behind his traditional sunglasses. He looked around a few times, stood quietly for a few moments and then turned around and left."

LOL, that quote about sums up the launch of Kinect.

Jamie Foxx2779d ago (Edited 2779d ago )

walk on stage in a white bit of clothing, then that sums up kinect as a whole.

sony and ms ...your too late to the motion control party, and its a bit of a crap party to be honest, theres no alcohol its a kiddies party

El Botto2779d ago

of being there and felt bored and needed to get out ASAP, tells alot about the actual event.

Hahaha

OneSneakyMofo2779d ago (Edited 2779d ago )

It would've been awesome to see Itagaki and Kojima duke it out in space ponchos with laser beams flying around them and Circus de Soleil animals circling them.

qface642779d ago

what no giant nuclear equipped walking battle tanks?

Ult iMate2779d ago

qface64, are you talking about "Metal Gill", that Don Mattrick mentioned last year? )))

That's just f'n harsh.

well not a good way to entice gamers to a new device with something like cirque de soleil. You're just asking for lots of O_O moments from the audience when they're having a W T F moment on how the performance relates to the gaming device.

morganfell2779d ago

Well the thing is MS made the mistake of pushing a device that isn't made for gamers, it's for families. Families that are willing to laugh at laggy controls but that is another issue altogether.

But Kinect is not for core gamers whom MS has dropped in favor of what they believe is a more lucrative market. Mom and the preschoolers.

Ilikegames762779d ago

have invited the mainstream media like CNN, Fox, and ABC instead of the hardcore gaming medias/journalists. Kinect is targeted at the casuals, it's common sense really.

Rainstorm812779d ago (Edited 2779d ago )

Along with the name change, I think the perception of this product has changed. Both Move and Natal have casual roots but Move is reaching out for the Core audience, Natal/Kintect isnt........yet.....i hope, but in about 9 hours we will know for sure.

What was shown damn sure didnt justify a $120-$190 purchase...or whatever its been rumored to be.

@ BeardPapa
this is what happens when too much showmanship is injected into E3.....you get the Circus + Games and all the gamer thinking.........WHY?

morganfell2779d ago (Edited 2779d ago )

Maybe this was done by design. Have a really crappy laughable showing on Sunday night so that even the really bad tech and games they show on Monday looks good.

They've got nowhere to go but up. I mean, it couldn't get worse...unless there are actual no BS live demos on Monday that fail to work correctly. But MS doesn't have a big history of doing it live.

madpuppy2779d ago

Think about it, all those high profile developers being duped by Microsoft to unwittingly be in an MTV commercial/Show. I bet that they were all pretty pissed off, waiting 2+ hours to get in and then given that ridiculous poncho to wear. I wouldn't be surprised if we begin hearing of more developers using the PS3 as lead platform after this dirty trick.

lolol epic failure all around. oh this is a disaster.

xTHRASHx2779d ago

haha i love the last paragraph. im disliking natal, i will call it natal, more and more.

Otheros002779d ago

Itagaki seemed disappointed. You shouldn't disappoint developers who made games exclusively for your system.

Sheikh Yerbouti2779d ago

Who knows? He probably thought, "I really need to be drunk for this."

KILLERAPP2779d ago

"For me, the highlight of the evening was watching Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki walk into the event in his white robe, taking in the scene behind his traditional sunglasses. He looked around a few times, stood quietly for a few moments and then turned around and left." LOL EPIC FAIL...

Tony-A2779d ago

I gotta admit, that was pretty funny. He was smiling and talking before the event started and next thing you know, he's standing alone, looking around in confusion before he decides to leave.

I still have no idea what the ponchos were for.

pwnsause2779d ago

the ponchos had built in- LEDs inside, so when a dramatic thing happened during the show (like when the kid climbed the mounted and was on top of the 360 logo) the poncho would light up green, or purple.

Ult iMate2779d ago

Maybe if there were some lolis with big breasts, then Itagaki would stay. But the ponchos hid them all.
