Portal 2 is one of the most anticipated releases of 2010, or at least it was until it was pushed back to 2011. However, this hasn't stopped NXT Gamer's KieranD speculating about what could be and what he wants to be in the game.
If it's full retail I'll have to only consider buying it - full retail will bump the price up. While Portal is ridiculously good fun, even if Portal 2 has a 8-9 hour single player and challenge maps I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay £30 for it...
Gonna be awesome but hopefully its not full retail
i loved the first one
So one of the most innovative and smartly written games in recent times suddenly is not worth full price now that it is a *full length* game? What is wrong with you people?
I felt nauseated playing this game, so I'll pass on this. Good game but not for me.
Will the cake be a lie in this one also?
i laughed at that 3 years ago as well!
I loved Portal, thought it was such a cleverly designed game and Valve pretty much said that Portal was just a test (no pun intended) and that Portal 2 will be the real game.
great article, never got into portal but i will try harder to unwrap my Orange box game
...you HAVE to play it. Now. Disregard all other arrangements or priorities. Now. PLAY IT.
You have not played Portal? :O
Enough with these boring FPS games already. Run run run shoot Come on man.
You're kidding right, pal? Or just not referring to Portal at all, and you didn't notice what article you stumbled upon... Portal is pure innovation and awesomeness. It's completely different than all FPSs on the market, because you never have bullets, and you never need them. Just making a path with your portal gun, using the crazy physics, loving your companion cube, knocking over little cute turrets, and solving puzzles. I love Portal. It's perfection. Can't wait for the sequel.
Um, this is Portal...
On a scale of 1-10, how high is this guy? "Enough with these boring FPS games already. Run run run shoot" in a Portal article. (Checks scale) It's over 9000!! >.<
9 fucking thousand!!! lol i love that vid.
The only thing I'm concerned about is length, because from everything I've heard, the game is going to be another slice of perfection. But, who am I kidding? I'm going to buy this Day 1 no matter what. It's Valve and it's portal, I'm completely sold.
I agree. The reason why I love Valve as a developer is because they don't just take feedback and put it into the game - they're pros at showing us something and making us want it. They can make something totally simple into something utterably and unbelievably awesome. Scripted events in Half Life, the Gravity Gun in Half Life 2, the mechanics of Portal...they've done many other things in each game besides the above, but these are people who know what you want, before YOU know you want it. I'd say what I want in Portal 2, but I'm sure Valve's ideas will knock dead whatever I could possibly come up with.
Valve really is like the Pixar of video games. They always release something that's pure genius, and make it seem like it's so easy to just come up with fantastic idea after fantastic idea.. I just can't comprehend the amazingness and consistency.
My research into 'Valve is run by magicians that make everything perfect with magical magic' isn't going too well, but that's the only explanation I can come up with.
Portal was a lovely surprise in the orange box that innovated the puzzle genre with its amazing humor and fun physics puzzles. I cannot wait for this to be released so that I can enjoy the amazing experience in a longer fashion and with more of my favorite video game humor ever!
Excellent article - i've only had limited experience with Portal and it's marked under "games i'm still to play" - but from what I have played, it's certainly a break from the norm in comparison to most games out there. Any of these suggested features would be welcome...
A PS3 release?
i really hope is for 360 and PS3 im a huge of Portal and half life soo please valve have a PS3 release date!!
but I really want Episode 3 more than anything. After the ending of Episode 2 I thought the next episode would be released in about a year, but instead Valve makes Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and now Portal 2. I've almost given up hope. Hopefully at E3 they'll announce the Blue Box featuring Portal 2, Episode 3, and some multiplayer game. Day one purchase for me.
I love how it's "cool to play Portal" when half of you probably didn't know a thing about it a year ago.
He assumes on no basis.
