8 Wildest E3 2010 Rumors: True or False?

PC World: Every E3 there's the pre-show windup, riddled with gossip and hyperbole, and every year that windup gets longer.

Which ones make sense (or don't)? Which are just pranks? Viral rumors? Intentional misdirecting from public relations agents designed to lead tens of thousands of prying eyes astray?

All are pretty much going to happen, with the exception of a $200 PS3, since Sony cant afford to take such a loss when they are releasing a add on and still losing like a billion a year.

blizzard_cool5065d ago

Really? I heard it was a gazillion dollars a year!!! MUAHAHAHA!!!!
/ sarcasm -.-'

Last I heard sony was profiting on every console sold... so they arent losing anything anymore... They may have some catching up to do.. But so long as they break even on consoles they can make their profits on gaming and peripherals... Given there are new skus for the ps3 that were just recently discovered to be on the way, its possible sony has found ways to further cut production costs. If that is the case, then a $200 ps3 would be feasible.. Last year dropping 100 dollars completely turned sales around for the ps3 and allowed them to outstrip the xbox for the past year by a very wide margin(world wide). Current numbers now show it lags behind the wii about like it lagged behind the xbox last year... put the ps3 at the same price point as the wii and it would be a no brainer for people to buy a ps3 instead of wii... seriously, you would be getting all the features of the wii and a ton more for the same price.. If sony wants to take this motion stuff seriously, and hit the casual market, they gotta match the wii price.

Honestly i instead see them keeping the same price but starting to include a ps eye and motion plus controller with every system they sell. That way if they sell 10million consoles during the year, they have at least 10million garanteed motion customers after the first year. and so on... This kind of coincides with their comments about a relaunch of the system.. that will ensure that 3rd party devs will continue to commit new games to the cause.

Some are a bit unlikely, but chances are at least half of these will turn out to be truth.

Keep trollin' buddy, its just gonna make you unpopular with the internetz.

Seriously...I know we can't expect much from gaming blogs and such, but PC world should have some who can actually write at a 6th grade level.

There were about a million spelling/grammar mistakes and run-on sentences in that article. They should FIRE their editor or something.

I normally dont care about that kind of thing but this article is so FULL OF ERRORS its not funny.

How can a writer for PC World not even know how to properly use an apostrophe?

kfloydchicken5065d ago

MS has hyped NATAL and then leaked an exorbitant price.
So that when they release the real price it deserves (probably 50-70)...
... people will think its a steal!!
MS thinks we're that stupid ...
... Well, I'm not biting.

Correction: You don't want the PS3 at $200.

There have been rumors, like with the 360, that a new internal hardware has shown up in reports. One of them includes the PS3.

Sony can keep upgrading the hardware chips and decreasing the price if they do what's been reported. A new chip can very well mean a $200 or $250 PS3. I know you don't want it to happen and it's really obvious because you dismiss that rumor despite the fact that it shares the same source as the 360 Slim, but if it happens, it happens.

Personally, I don't see that happening, which means I don't see a 360 Slim happening. I especially don't see a 360 redesign happening in the case of the box art. Inconsistency sucks and has plagued the PS3, so I don't see why MS would do the same when they have a good formula going.

I am almost certain the there won't be a 200$ PS3 though 360 slim will be announced.

ZombieAutopsy5065d ago

Would be nice if we get some sort of HuluHD.

birchoff5065d ago

The only one I found "wild" was that the 3DS will have the same amount of power as PS3. Looking at the Wii you all know what I mean.

ReBurn5065d ago

The rumors are almost as fun as the show sometimes. Then the hype train crashes and I just can't look away...

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
