The German S.T.A.L.K.E.R community has decided to go on strike due to the lack of support from publisher THQ.
They've released a statement on their website which reads; "Five years ago we founded today's leading S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fansite, in the time span of just a few weeks we accomplished to create an intensive with the developer GSC Game World and provided recent news firsthand - but to this day, THQ US has not been able to arrange a working and optimal patch policy for both sides."
Stalker: Legacy of Times was an attempt to create a STALKER-inspired game on CryEngine 2, however, its dev team announced its official cancellation.
Anomaly Developers has released a new version of its standalone mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., STALKER Anomaly.
Enemy respawns in open world games are tricky to get right. If they are too frequent it feels 'gamey' and it may render a player's in-game actions irrelevant. However too few respawns leave an open world empty, devoid of threat and frankly rather boring.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha expertly shows how to handle respawns by striking a near-perfect balance via a hybrid spawn/respawn system. We investigate how this works and how it has made S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha one of the best semi-open world games around. Ubisoft 'et all should take note.
THQ doing their usual trick ... refused to buy Stalker after the way they have just abandoned Titan Quest ... I will never buy another one of their games again ... no point putting good money after bad, no matter how good the potential of the game ...
This is sad, stalker is a sweet game it deserves better thant this.
THQ and JoWood aare on my personal "never ever buy any game they release" list. Toi many times each company f*cked customers by premature releases of alpha level software. Anyone still remember "Soldner" ? game released, and a day after goint to the shops it needed a 600MB sized patch cause it crashed all the time. It shipped on CD, so they could have shipped a new CD instead. Even after multiple patches the game was not stable enough to play for longer than 20 minutes. Or Gothic3 ... one huge bugfest.
No, thank you, but i won't throw good hard earned money after the bad i threw at the former THQ and JoWood products.
