The Ultimate 3D Gaming Experience: Stereoscopic 3D Gaming on PlayStation 3 Available Tomorrow

Hi everyone! The moment is here — starting tomorrow, high-definition stereoscopic 3D gaming will be available in your very own living rooms! As you already know, all PlayStation 3 systems are already equipped with everything they need to play stereoscopic 3D games. Thanks to a free firmware update released this past April, the PS3 system is the only console on the market that can support full stereoscopic 3D gaming — right from your living room, and with no additional charge.

This is getting exciting now! "tomorrow" !
But the PSN 12 hour thing is really sad.. :(
I will see you tomorrow - PSN! ;)

Petro893113d ago

This isn't why the PSN is undergoing the 12 hour maintenance.

That's for something else...You'll find out in a few hours. ;)

The_Count3113d ago

Shame I need a rather expensive tv :(

DA_SHREDDER3113d ago

Petro, wtf dude? Why the secrecy? Its just a video games console, gesh. lol..

Blacktric3113d ago

That's the worst part about this 3D thing. I already bought a new TV for playing PS3 games in 720/1080P and now 3d thing came out and Sony is really trying to push it. Unfortunately the TV I got is a 100HZ 40W5500 and they say 3D requires a TV that can capable of doing 120HZ at least. Well maybe next time :(.

WhittO3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

This HAS to confirm a FW.

I just dont think Sony would release it early before they get a chance to go over PSN+.
Maybe they can still release a FW for us to download but like time it so the changes only take effect after a certain time or date ?

Is that possible?

OR, they could just release a FW tomorrow and have the features etc we hope and are dedicating the majority of the conference to the PSP2 which is looking more and more likely, why else release everything before hand.

EDIT: O, lol, I thought the PS3 needed another update for 3D? Sure I read that somewhere?

Still, why have a 12 hour maintenance for 3D, it isn't needed.

And I cant see them needing 12 hours downtime just to prepare servers for E3 traffic.

YoungKiller253113d ago

we already downloaded the firmware months ago its just the games and tv being released

WhittO3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

hmmm, so what was with all of those articles etc saying the ps3 will get a FW update in June ( June the 10th! (suspicious haha)).

saint_john_paul_ii3113d ago

i believe so.

PS home appeared on the XMB PSN icon without a firmware update...

YoungKiller253113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

but the story from the PSBLog says "Hi everyone! The moment is here — starting tomorrow, high-definition stereoscopic 3D gaming will be available in your very own living rooms! *As you already know, all PlayStation 3 systems are already equipped with everything they need to play stereoscopic 3D games. Thanks to a free firmware update released this past April*"

So no UPDATE is apparently needed

EDIT: We all should know that a new firmware update is imminent just not coming tomorrow i suspect during E3 or after, the maintenance being done is just to prepare ahead of time

deadreckoning6663113d ago (Edited 3113d ago ) many of you ACTUALLY have or are planning to buy a 3DTV?

If yes, agree
If no, disagree

@The_Count- Yeah me too. Theres no way a 50 incher could fit in my room and I'm not spending cash on another set right now. I just bought my 32 inch two years ago. Besides, 3D in the home is only gunna get better and better. I feel bad for the poor sap who buys a 3DTV now only to see 2-3 years later that "glassless" 3D technology is already on the market. But hey, if u have the money, more power to ya.

The_Count3113d ago

I ain't buying until most importantly it's down in price. Secondly smaller than 50 inch. Don't have much room to put the thing.

thematrix12983113d ago

This is a big LOL for me since I got a 2010 55" Sony LCD TV. I don't think I'll buy another TV for atleast 4-5 years.

mantisimo3113d ago

Is a reality but you have to be sat exactly in front of the screen while the glasses tech allows viewing off centre to cater for families so the glassless will not be a reality in homes for a long long time.

saint_john_paul_ii3113d ago

just return it, exchange it for a 3dtv

catguykyou3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

Why return it. It is a great TV. He would have to pay almost double the price to get a 3d set that is just as good of quality. I love my Bravio 52". No need for 3d tv set yet. Not when you have to spend 100$ for a pair of glasses that use expensive batteries to run. Plus, if you watch the display units at your local Bestbuy, there are still issues like Ghosting. Besides, who wants to play with glasses on....especially the people who already have to wear glasses. The 3d thing as it is now is a fad. Until they come out with a viable glasses free 3d set, it isn't going to reach the mainstream market.

Will they patch Motorstorm with 3D because all it says is demo. I adore Motorstorm, I loved the first.

I will hate tomorow because people will moan on some no name blog about how 3D sucks.

OSU_Gamer3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

So now I just have to go buy a brand new TV...YAY

Chris3993113d ago

This tempts me to buy those over-priced frickn' things now. I have the t.v. (check out Futureshop for sales on Samsung 750 series 3D televisions - got mine at almost 1/2 price), but opted out of the glasses - at the time - on account of the $500 price tag.

And I don't even remember if that was for two pairs! lol I think it was though, or that would be asinine.

OSU_Gamer3113d ago

I just bought a nice LG 47" 120Hz what?

chester3113d ago

return's useless. don't even return it actually, just throw it out.

animboo3113d ago

will 3d work on a normal SDTV?

animboo3113d ago

i was not stating a fact, i was asking a question.

Chris3993113d ago

is knowing that one day (usually rather soon), it will be replaced by a better, more efficient or refined technology. Look at all the hardware refreshes we have gone through with consoles alone these past 4 years.

You argued this in that other thread that closed, where I likened the conglomorates PUSHING of 3D tech to the advent blu-ray. You said that I was "flat out wrong", then failed to cite and reason why other than your opinion. Storage space, has NOTHING TO DO with conglomorates pushing technology to the masses. My point was, that if there is a strong enough unified corporate push behind something, it is likely to succeed in the market. That's what I was saying.

And as a consumer, if you don't want it, don't buy it. But with studios, developers, and electronics manufacturer's all rallying behind 3D, you're really just sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la-la-la!" while the rest of the world embraces (forcibly made to, or not) 3D tech.
