A short post on why and how 3D will work and grow and reminding ourselves that the PS3 will be controlling more of the market very soon.
I hate 3D things, I only like "Imax" cause thats true 3D (cool stuff!!!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
I've been 3D gaming for years, there is no "will" involved... Great for single player, feels like a disadvantage in fast paced multiplayer.
I think gtamike is confused and thinks people still use red cyan glasses for 3D at home. You can not tell the difference between passive 3D and active 3D especially on a 240hz 1080p TV. Or do you not like it because its not a 9000ft squared screen?
I want a TV without glasses.
wait another 6-10 years... It is a lot harder than people on N4G think it is to stream 2 different video files to either eye without the use of any gear and without having to stand in a specific location.
There allready are in making its just viewing angle on them are terrible you need sat right in centre to see any effects without blur it will happen just not for a while.
but have absolutely no interest in 3D entertainment. I don't want to fuss w/glasses, personally, and I find that the 3D tends to make the images less sharp. Then there is the inherent problem when watching a 3D movie w/friends: "Hey Mike, come on in. OH, your forgot your glasses? Well...were out. Anyway, uh, grab a snack. Sorry about that." I just don't see it as an improvement, just something different with a surprising amount of associated cost, both on the development and consumer side.
@Guntrol Trust me check out "Imax" I went like 3 years ago. Films like avatar 3D are not really 3D at all and yes less sharp image to.
Its why i keep going back to the Movies now. Cant wait to make my living room the place to be for all 3D adventures!
Don't have to go to the theater to get it either. Don't even need a special TV or electricity.
Avatar in 3D was amaaaaaaaazinggggggggg. If Killzone 3 in 3D will be anything close to that......I'm sold....... By the way, 1111th comment!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I really think Sony needs to present 3D gaming as a small perk and not push us to buying 3D tv's and glasses and games.
I'll only get 3d when I able to get an 80 inch or bigger tv, cause then thats when it'll be worth having the 3d in the first place. but I'm gonna have to be able to afford it first
i remember Sony tried 3d gaming before.. with sly 3
Yeah I remember that, pretty different though, that was with the old Red/Cyan glasses. Edit: Ha, check out the Sly glasses http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2...
@fishy fingers lol brings back memory but i didn't enjoy playing with the glasses
3D will not work unless they can get rid of the glasses. I am not wearing glasses in order to play a game in 3D when I already know I will enjoy in 2D.
3d WILL work with glasses(how the hell do you think studios made more money off their 3d versions across the board in 2009? they used glasses IN PUBLIC)why don't you google that, now the next question is can this 3d experience be brought home and if u have bothered to go to best buy and demoed the answer is YES. Now your next statement is just retarded- it's like saying if I can enjoy a game in standard-def then I do not need the hd version(if I can enjoy a hyaundi sonata please do not put me in a audi r8). btw this is an OPTION(there are people who dont have internet on their systems but I doubt they go around bitching about games having online multiplayer).
WTF do I Google to find that out? Give me a link or something? Don't be an idiot. The 3D studios made more money (if you are even right about that) because its the latest and greatest thing, and Avatar actually did a good job with it. What the heck does demoing the Best Buy 3D setup have anything to do with wearing 3D glasses? Of course the experience can be brought home...as long as you wear the 3D glasses AT ALL TIMES. "it's like saying if I can enjoy a game in standard-def then I do not need the hd version" You are completely reshaping my argument. When did I ever once say that I would rather play a game in non-3D over 3D? Please tell me. If you would actually read my comment, I said: " I AM NOT WEARING GLASSES to play a game in 3D when I already know I will enjoy in 2D." Where does that say I would rather play a game in 2D...or better yet, when did I say I would rather drive a Hyaundi Sonata over an R8. You are completely changing my argument. The next best part is the fact that you are comparing the difference between 2D and 3D to the difference between a Sonata and an R8. Are you joking? I know it is an option, but I can still comment on the fact that I don't think it will work.
Dont forget Contra for the PS2
wow that was a very poorly written article ha. Give me $2500 for a new tv and im all for it.
I agree with wolfam1, the article is so poor. It's basically a Sony fanboy writing all about Sony. I don't think Sony are the only company making 3D games and I doubt only Sony makes the good games out there. Sony has the best technology? Hmmm, honestly I can't say either way on that. Right now the PS3 is "technically" better, but by the time 3D gaming really takes off and the next generation of consoles is out to fully take advantage of 3D gaming ... well, who knows what we'll be seeing. And the funniest fanboy comment, 3D gaming will put Sony on top of the market ... I don't see how this equates into why people will love 3D gaming ... especially those owning an Xbox or a Wii. In closing, I am excited about what the future holds for 3D gaming, in time It'd be great to not have to wear the glasses so anything that happens now can hopefully help that becoming a reality for us all. Until then I'll be content playing my PS3 games in 2d/3d :)
"top of the market" : ps3 already sell better than his concurrence worlwide (since the beginning), and without ms viral marketing, rumors, and sheep, sony would alreaby been first, even with wii toy in the equation (if games, functionality, quality, variety, matter more than hype and internet bullcraps) 3D will be another great advantage for ps3, it's just a fact (even xbots are buying ps3 since they have seen games, bluray, etc, with price drop, move, wii owners + ps2 owners, xbox blindest fan will come to ps3)
So let me get this straight, you disagree with me because I said Sony is not the only player in the 3D market and that Sony becoming "top of the market" does not equate to people loving 3D gaming given that fact? Please don't reply, the rest of your "rant" explains it clearly, you are a Sony fanboy. I'm a Sony "fan", but I'm not blind to the fact that other companies do exist who may (or may not) do things better than they do.
Because I have $3,000 to drop on a 3D tv, Oh, WAIT, I don't. Nevermind.
3D can be a selling point for the ps3, with no one every even using it...^^
I buy an hdtv about every 4 years(on my 2nd) and I am due for #3 so of course I will future-proof my purchase with 3d-capability. I can't wait for some ps3d gaming.
No more than I'd say 50,000 people have a 3D capable TV.
Those are all the same reason. Lol. I am excited for 3D though. :) Also...M. Night used Cameron's tech to film The Last Airbender. :) I can't wait to see it.
