John Carmack says Ageia PhysX Has No Future

id Software's leading guy, John Carmack, told Bootdaily.com this regarding his feelings of CPU cores and physics:

"I am not a believer in dedicated PPUs. Multiple CPU cores will be much more useful in general, but when GPUs finally get reasonably fine grained context switching and scheduling, some tasks will work well there."
-John Carmack

Uhmmm:

"What the QX6850 really does is help galvanize Intel as the preeminent leader in quad-core technology and should help bolster developer support as we see the industry move towards more CPU cores. id Software's leading guy, John Carmack, told us this regarding his feelings of CPU cores and physics:

“I am not a believer in dedicated PPUs. Multiple CPU cores will be much more useful in general, but when GPUs finally get reasonably fine grained context switching and scheduling, some tasks will work well there.”
-John Carmack "

The article is about: Intel QX6850 Quad-Core CPU Review

I didn't see the "Ageia PhysX" part there...

first : See Xbitlabs.com , they said the same, Im just use their title

second : dedicated PPUs? it means PhysX Ageia right now, becuz I think there is no other dedicated chip for that kind of process except Ageia. (at least I'v never heard anythin else)

EDIT: thx darthbillboy , bubble for u (I mean THANK U very much lol)

agreed Ageia PhysX is the only dedicated PPU on the market. Carmack is obviously referring to it.

first I did that.. but I thought ORGINAL link would be better..

But after THE MART report I think u r right.. Xbitlabs.com link is better cuz of title ..

@TnS or other exprienced Contributors : Article or interview?

@Vojkan Below:

FOR SURE its a good news for both PS3 and 360.. may be better for PS3 cuz of better CPU (8 core) , in the near future GAME engines will use physics more than before like his new Engine.. becuz their first platform is PC , after releasing several Multi-core CPUS for PC they are READY for doing Physics better on their engines and their codes are more efficient for multicore Consoles aswell.. its my opinion..

Can someone explain me what has this to do with PS3 and xbox 360? Is it positive or negative for consoles?
EDIT:Dax BLOW ME!

You do know that N4G is more than just a flame base for 360 and PS3 owners, right?

Let everything else get some light of day for once. Besides this a tech article, not a 360 and PS3 article.
