CompUSA is completely sold out on all PLAYSTATION 3 Consoles. There is not a single PLAYSTATION 3 console available for purchase from the CompUSA website nor any of the 103 retail stores across the United States and Puerto Rico.
a testament would be ps3 sales steadly increasing at the 600 dollar price tag, not lowering the price after 7-8 months then a week later kaz announcing the 60 gig will be phased out thats a clearance sale and will only sell so many units.
"ps3 sales steadly increasing at the 600 dollar price tag, not lowering the price after 7-8 months then a week later kaz announcing the 60 gig will be phased out thats a clearance sale and will only sell so many units"
what makes you think the 80gb won`t go down to $499? cause, MARK my words, It will.
and they will introduce a $399 version before Xmas.
So SORRY to burst you bubble but, when the 60gb gone, the ps3 will never be $599 again. and w/ all the games coming out it will maintain where its at.
PLAY BEYOND.
@captain tuttle(16.1)
No pressure, this is just how they do business. it`s wierd, but it works.
It's funny, the PofS3 only has a 3.8 out of 5 Star Customer Rating from only 26 reviews, where the Xbox 360 has a 4.6 out of 5 Star Customer Rating from a whopping 202 reviews. Even with the few problems with the 360 they are still showed more love, nice.
Don't worry, theirs plenty of PofS 3s still in stock at other stores:
yea we know already. If they sell well great, keeps MGS4 exclusive and all that. Plus more people get to try great games like heavenly sword and lair. Howver enough is enough. The ps3 is doing well and i think we have all gotten the message. Stuff like this should not make news
I must agree with Blankman. Nothing wrong with this kind of new, where you go all online store, chasing that ones that are out of stock on PS3 or any system you like, but even being "not wrong", it's boring. We all know that the pricecut had effect and the 60GB model is selling very well (Will phase out faster too? The BD sales will go up? Sony will come back and produce more 60GB? This ones could be more interesting news, if someone can get the word from the right peoples), just let the news come when Sony or the retailers have something to say on that, not more just "Out Of Stock".
Apparently there are 2 million 60 GB ....which would make it kinda wierd if it was sold out...if it did happen then that is crazy! Well i wanna see a confirmation from sony...or some really huge npd numbers.
then I'll be blown away. Right now, they have PS3's aplenty there. Same is true at my local Walmart and Bestbuy. But hey, if they do sell all these PS3's it can't be anything but good news. And just wait till the 40 gig 399.99 sku drops. Sony will be right back on top (of MS anyway).
Then, you won't mind if the Wal-mart, Gamestop, Best Buy, and Target by my house send you all 3,000 of their Wii's???
There was ONE PS3 at Gamestop the other day...and it sold in minutes. It's doing GREAT here, in Illinois. I don't know about other regions, but it's great here!
The Wii's a joke. Can we all just admit it already?
I got SOOOO freakin' bored with my Wii! I'm literally more excited for the WORST PS3 or 360 games...than for ANY Wii game.
Nothing looks...innovative...or fun. I would also like a storyline, Nintendo! Is that too much to ask?
There's more than 2 million 60gb PS3s. Sony said they shipped 5.5 million and they were still making 60GBs until E3. I'd say 2.5 million PS3s are still out there.
Pleaseeeeee the ps3 isn't moving except where companies are taking a loss on sales as CompUSA did, and still they probably had some 100 units avail.online so that's not a big move. Relax.
The Xbox 360 and especially the Wii have been sold out at many places, the Wii in fact is nowhere to be found.
Some sony fan called the Wii a joke, well compared to true next gen. stats, yes, but even still this joke as you call it, is kicking your ps3's ass all over town.
That to date, at least 5.5 million Ps3's have been sold, coincidently the same numbers shipped in March. so they are selling very well, not just CompUSA is soldout you know.
i hope that they can maintain the momentum when they no longer make the 60 gig. if the drop the 80gig to 500 usd this christmas after the 60gig is all gone , and nolonger carry the motorstorm package then this will be good. but in all honesty they dont need the 600 bucks price tage. i hope and can only hope that they be smart and continue to sell at 500$ and by next year summer drop it to 400 bucks. in anycase they are doing well. good job sony for this period of time you have managed to pull your self out of the red and perhaps made better sales. how much though is left to be seen.
Circuit City, Best Buy, CompUSA, and Wal-Mart are all sold out in my area...not that I was checking...but I was in each of these stores pricing some computer equipment for work last week...and each had notices on the entrance that they were sold out of PS3's until next week for most places (Wal Mart didn't say)...
A friend of mine just bought one at Gamestop though...so they are still around...the guy said they sold like 17 that day (the first day they went on sale there) though...but they probably have a huge overstock still...they weren't going anywhere there for like 2 months...
nintendo is winning its own console war. its not even a part of the one going on between sony and microsoft, nintendo has a completely different audience and a completely different assortment of games. its like saying ds is realy kicking the crap out of the ps2 right now in the console war.
I work at Bestbuy and we haven't seen a huge increase in sales of the PS3 we sale a average 2-3 a day we still have around mid 20's in back. My good friend works at the Circuit down the street from me and he said they have a bunch in stock.
I love this site. I state a fact that where i work hasn't sold many Ps3 and my best friend at CCity hasn't either and someone disagrees. i didn't talk crap on PS3. Just stated a fact. So sad what ever fanboy that press disagree doesn't have the balls to say why.
im going on record saying that you are a door greeter at bestbuy like those old farts at wal mart, they dont allow door greeters in the back of the warehouse, the ps3 is gonna build momentum and surpass the 360 and the wii, bc the wii is a fad, i played zelda on it on day one, and havent seen that wii since, this is going to be a 10-12 year race, while the 360 already messed up by releasing early and boning all the early adopters , the ps3 might change the controller by adding rumble, thats about it, and not screw everyone who bought the system on day one like me, plus the xbox 360 came out and it had great games like what ? kameo? lolz. the first good game came out around march, like 5 months after release with oblivion, whereas the ps3 had resistance, and it dont get any better than that, if anybody wants play online, my id is destined2shine :)
I don't have to prove sh1t to you. I work in the computer department if you know a friend at a bestbuy tell me hes name ill look it up what department he works in and does. I'm thinking pacman615 is a kid that sits at home thinking the PS3 is gods gift to little boys that can't meet girls. It's ok one day you might outgrow being a fanboy.
the ps3 comeback is inevitable, like i said, after e3, ps3 wins, just look at this site, ps3 topics are more visited than every other platform, and it follows on all other sites aswell, so wheater you like it or not, ps3 is comming in full sail, and aint no storm on the sea to slow it down, get ready
I personally think Sony are being very clever regarding the price of the PS3. They can afford to drop the artificially overpriced PS3 down bit and everyone thinks they are getting a bargain!
Then they release a PS3 with an extra 20Gb and charge the same as before. A stroke of genius!
I do love my 360 but Sony are really starting to turn the heat up on the PS3 and I look forward to some great games on both systems.
At the end of the day we gamers are the ultimate winners when companies scramble over our custom.
"I personally think Sony are being very clever regarding the price of the PS3. They can afford to drop the artificially overpriced PS3 down bit and everyone thinks they are getting a bargain!" oui oui
you might want to read the full articles before just replying like that, it will also come with rumble again too, and you know, people drop 2k-5k $ on a computer that wont even give them a hd format to play those games on, and for even 600$ the ps3 is a freakin deal , you have to know the tech to appreciate that bargain, :)~
Hell if I were in the higher ups at Sony I would just keep pushing those 60gigs out without telling anyone, they probably are. =P Just to make people think that they're running out.
its all about the marketing :) and sony knows how to do that all to well, whereas microsoft is known for doing the customer dirty with windows, now with the 360 , sony is on the rise
Look, Sony is obviously riding a good momentum right now. It's funny, when the PS3 was supposedly almost "doomed" or sales were slow, there was no hesitation for articles to bash the slow sales. But now its selling faster, people still give Sony crap. Ex. like what's the big deal about these sold out articles, PS3 still getting butt kicked by Wii, etc etc. And overpriced, how is it overpriced if Sony is losing money on the hardware. I wonder how much Microsoft is losing on their hardware? It doesn't matter anyways. I'm sure what really counts are the opinions of people who actually own PS3's. And it seems they're pretty happy with what they got for the most part, and are excited about its future. The only ones who are really criticizing the Playstation are non-Playstation owners
microsoft is probably dishing about 4billion dollars, just take their 2billion and add another 2 billion, microsoft only states half of their facts , so logically my calculations are saying poo on the 360, i have a 360 and i am really disappointed, the last great game for that was gears of war , NOT FOR THE STORYLINE, bc 6 levels isnt a true next gen game, you need blu ray for games like lair, heavenly sword, mgs4, killzone 2 , littlebigplanet, etc, etc, etc, for another 12 years games are going to be rolling out for that system, LAIR AUG 14TH
People wanted a price drop, not 20 more gigs. Unless they keep the PS3 at $499 sales will fall off again. I think game publishers and developers have been putting tons of pressure on Sony to move consoles.
So I guess the price drop has made a spike in the sales, a good sign for the PS3. But now will Sony try and make a move on this and gain more ground? Maybe with let's say something like an 80 GB before holiday season at the same price? Or just go with the flow?
Well, I think it just goes to show how absurdly high the $600 price tag is. Lower is by a $100 and sales will surge! A $500 price tag for the 80 GB may just appear before christmas I think, but a $400 price tag? We'll wait a while before we see that methinks.
Yes some retailers will be sold out and others will have stock. How soon we forget that earlier this year 60 Gig PS3's were on sale for 499.99 (with trade in of a PS2.) I don't recall seeing any out of stock articles about Gamestop. The largest retailer of games (not sure about game consoles) sold in the US. I checked and Wal-Mart has stock of PS3's including the bundle package that some Goof decided to post was out of stock as news. I'm happy there selling I really am, but listing each retailer in North America as being sold out (without knowing how many units the retailer had to begin with) is just stupid. Do me a favor, when you check stock of a particular website, check your local best buy or circuit city online (by available in-store pickup) by your zip code for availability. If they have it at several stores in your area, chances are it's NOT SOLD OUT. Otherwise you'll force me to post PS3/Xbox360 IN STOCK articles.
It's selling well but I actually think that most of the people buying now are just those who had an initial beef with the price. They're just widening their hardcore audience a lot more. People who said, "$599...screw that." are eating them up now, not people who legitimately cannot afford a $600 console...and that's a lot of people. The price needs to come down another $100 sooner than later IMO if they want to have a shot at reaching PS1/PS2 numbers. Though if they can maintain their momentum throughout the holidays then maybe they can afford to wait until next year for another price drop.
YEA, THIS IS OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT SAY NOBODY WANTS IT. NOBODY WANTS 360'S OVER PS3. WHEN U COULD PLAY SAME GAMES BUT NOT WORRY ABOUT IT BREAKIN AND WAITIN 4 WEEKS
I've seen no mention of how many PS3/Xbox/Wii's that stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, Game Stop etc. buy for their inventory in the first place!
Lets say Game Stop buys 10 PS3's and Best Buy buys 100 PS3's for their inventory. Now lets say Game Stop sells 8 and Best Buy sells 85. One fanboy says, "I stopped by Game Stop and they only have two left! They're selling like crazy!" Then another stops by Best Buy and says, "there's still 15 left at the Best Buy near my house. The PS3 is hardly selling."
We can't base how sales are doing strictly by "reported" local stock. We don't know how much they have in back, how often they replenish stock, etc.
I agree with a previous poster that arguing about this stuff is rediculous. Things are hard to prove on an online forum and more hearsay comments should be taken as opinion.
i got my ps3 2 months ago n i tell u it was worth every cent! and its more expensive here in australia (999AUD). i bought 6 games and cant put the controller down! i also got a sony bravia tv n the graphics r awsome!!! seriously its worth every cent trust me :)
I Congratulate PS3 on Comps behave, Soldout just means people are starting to Respect the Sales PS3 offers! Disagree with me if you like but atleast give SONY props for what they Accomplished! :P
about the PS3 is lack of great games, and I swear this is practically the ONLY complaint PS3 owners have in regards to the console. If we had that, and a price drop before Xmas - I think even with that, Sony would catch up with sales with the 360 by next Summer.
That's just my opinion.
A reasonable price + great games + that Sony brand image = unrivalled success.
My guess is they're sold out because they didn't have much to begin with. They've probably had the same 20 consoles since launch and with the new price drop people are starting to pick them up. Which is a good thing.
CompUSA wasn't going out of business and not ordering new stock.. They may keep their online presence but the stores are closing all across the country.
Great that the PS3 is selling but how is posting a link to a retail store news? There is no indication as to how much stock they had sold in order to be sold out. Also, how much are they planning to restock with????
Come on, lets lift the standard of news on this site please.
very few of those stores anymroe, if i could see that its sold out at circuit city or best buy, or even walmart, thats some real news, and not the bundle pack either!!
just another testament to the ps3 making a comeback
yea we know already. If they sell well great, keeps MGS4 exclusive and all that. Plus more people get to try great games like heavenly sword and lair. Howver enough is enough. The ps3 is doing well and i think we have all gotten the message. Stuff like this should not make news
