UFC Undisputed 2009 was a big hit for THQ, selling over a million units in the U.S. during the first month alone. The recently released sequel doesn't seem to be doing quite as well as expected, however, according to Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian, who said retail channel checks seem to be indicating "slower than anticipated" sales.
"Our updated checks indicate TTWO title Red Dead Redemption is still selling well, which may be adding some competitive pressure to UFC," noted Sebastian.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
PlaySation gamers are in for a treat today! Not only did Sony roll out its “Double Discount” PlayStation Store sale, but there’s also a THQ Humbe Bundle PS4 discount happening too!
First off... THQ - You came out with a major online patch to fix the quitters in 2009 and you broke the online... then you have the nerve to announce that anyone who wants to rent your game to test it out to see if you actually FIXED the online will get a $4.99 slap in the face with your stupid online code.
Secondly - What did you add to this game? The only noticeable change I saw was taking out the button mashing and added a few fighters... Not enough to charge for a full price yearly update. The graphics looked the same and you made a few tweeks that could of easily been added with a patch.
I'm glad sales are less than expected... you deserve it with your handling of the first game and the combination of the lack of new features.
you know, it may not be different enough from last year's version. poor "big daddy" Joe, what a picture.
