One Year Later, Did These PS3 and PSP Promises Come True?

The PlayStation people promise a lot of things. They did one year ago. Now those promises and plans are being checked, by Kotaku, to see which elements of their E3 2009 Sony hype came true and which did not.

The story is too old to be commented.

Interesting article. I will give Sony props that at E3 '09, they pretty much shut their mouths and let their games do the talking. They showed off more games than Nintendo and Microsoft combined.

"Final Judgment: This was a bold showing by Sony full of more and, Natal aside, more ambitious promises than the Microsoft and Nintendo E3 2009 events. Unfortunately, it was also the press conference with the most whiffs, missing the release dates of MAG and Move and a batch of PSP games. Oddly, the constrained hype for the PSPgo was spot on. For making such a big deal of the motion controller and getting that timeframe so wrong, and for being somewhat smoke-and-mirrors with some of the hype here (35 PS3 exclusives?), Sony gets a C."

"Final Judgment: A job well done by Nintendo, in terms of accurate promises. None of the release date promises was broken and the hype on the Vitality Sensor was kept conservative. I can only dock Nintendo for a little bit of sleight of hand, setting up the MotionPlus as a next big thing in motion control while slightly fudging the device's accuracy — and more importantly — the extent to which it was going to be supported by Nintendo and its friends. Nintendo, your powers of prognostication earn you an A-minus."

"Final Judgment: Decent performance, Microsoft, but that Natal stuff.... I don't know. Is it really going to do all that? The release date accuracy was pretty good, but that Metal Gear thing was confusing and the Natal stuff was incomplete. Impressive roll-out of promised dashboard features. Overall, you're getting a B."

Thanks for posting. I never give this site hits because it has the worst people running it. Or maybe I'm just not into what gamers like because to me xbox and ps3 did pretty good and it was Nintendo that was lacking.

Lol Kotaku/Destructiod are ridiculous with an even more ridiculous community.

I remember saying how the 50 cent game was going to be trash and was flamed because the preview article spoke so highly of it (with ads for it plastered all over).

IDK about the psp but so far sony been delivering in terms of games on the ps3. But in terms of features on the psn no. Because there are tons of people waiting for certain features besides cross game chat. We got very good games now we just need to get some features and also see what this psn premium has to offer.

Besides the long and still on going wait for a Party chat , The quality of games PS3 has put out does walk the walk..

PS3 has delivered on games....going back to last years E3...the PS3 games have spoken for themselves..this year with natal and motion and 3D. I just hope Sony and MS understands, its about the games...
