Doctor Who: The Adventure Games launch in the UK for free, but elsewhere people have to wait until July - and will have to pay.
Hm I wonder if this has anything to do with the Licence fee ? Now for those not in the UK you probably don't know what I am talking about. Basically the BBC is funded by a licence fee that you have to pay for if you own a television (it's basically a broadcasting tax). So if you own a TV in the UK then you have to pay £12 a month for a licence to use that TV if you don't you face a hefty fine or even jail. Now since the BBC is so heavily involved in this game it is possible that under the licence terms they are not legally allowed to charge the UK for this game because technically UK citizens have already paid for it with the licence fee. Naturally people outside of the UK don't pay a licence fee and the BBC are not bound by the licence terms so they can charge for the game.
It's awesome for a totally free game, can't wait for the next episode. I'm not kidding. I might post a user review.
