System Shock – Sequel, Spin Off, Start Over or Stay Dead

Welcome to this week’s, “Sequel, Spin Off, Start Over or Stay Dead?” Each week we’re going to look at a dormant franchise that was once pretty popular, but for some reason has disappeared into the sands of time. Diehard GameFAN staffers will have four options for what they want to have happen to the series and you can see them in the title of this piece. (PC, Retro)

I like the idea of a new System Shock, but considering some publishers recent 'revivals' like XCOM (now an FPS) and Dues Ex (a 3rd person cover shooter) how could I trust anyone would do it properly?

Hell yeah. System Shock badly needs a proper decent sequel, or at least a revamped re-release.

And Deus Ex 3 isn't a 3rd person cover shooter, it only goes that way when you take cover. You don't have to do that at all. As long as you don't press the cover button, you can ignore that entire feature - and perspective.

On Deus Ex: I'll take your word for it. I sincerely hope they understand what made Deus Ex so great and at the very least mimic it, rather than dumbing it down for a more casual audience.
