CVG: LostWinds and Elite creator David Braben has branded Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward "dead" - following the exodus of over a third of its staff.
The studio died when the leads got canned....
I think we all kind of knew that! Like I said... the rest of them will be added to the Treyarch team, or cut loose all together.
That's a pretty safe bet. What do they have like 6 employees left?
If they do, that only means about four people left if over 1/3 of the staff walked.

I say let them go underground only to resurface with a new engine and a few good years of development without any Communist publisher rushes.
They used the quake engine for a decade and you just start complaining?
Yeah, the writing was on the wall when the heads were fired.
I keep on saying it, but what on EARTH s going to happen when they decide to change engine for the CoD games? It's STILL based off of IW's CoD4 engine and the engine leads now left!
Activision will hire new engine designers or start using the next Unreal Engine or Cryengine 3.
COD uses the quake engine, roflmao at this site. New engine designers...oh that's rich.
^ What bob said. And how the heck did he end up with two bubbles? For telling the truth? And it IS the truth. A Treyarch dev by the name of fyzxwhyz posts over at neogaf. Straight from the horse's mouth about the COD engine: "Cod4 Wii, like all call of dutys (except maybe the portables) runs on a heavily modified quake 3 arena engine. That engine was itself a descendent of Doom and Wolfenstein 3d. (There are still references in the code base to slime and lava damage lurking around.) That's almost 20 years of development, optimization, and iteration on more or less the same piece of software. It's been the backbone of dozens of successful games. Most of the kinks were worked out long ago. It's fast and easily adaptable to new hardware. It also makes it easy to share tech with other projects using the same engine. You give all of that up when you start from scratch and create a new engine." --------------------------- Maybe Activision will surprise us and go for a new middleware solution, but after two decades...I kinda doubt it. There are advantages to just building on top of what is already there.
'Its the end of Infinity Ward as we know it, Its the end of Infinty Ward as we know it, It's the end of Infinity Ward as we know it and I feel fine' :)
infinity ward died after cod 2, they made the franchise noob friendly with stupid perks and noob killstreaks
yea but their single player is always awesome
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOO! thats awful, i hope it doesnt affect future map packs for MW2
He's so ignorant that not only does he kill the next modern warfare and cost his company around a billion doing so. But, he guts the company most likely less than two years before the release of the next generation of consoles. The new people will struggle for years to get up to speed on the next generation. The IW name will be mud by the time they do and they will never recover.
Oi dave, stop talking and make a new Elite game. I miss my viper defence craft
