I've noticed this the past few months. The PS3 is staying in the top 10 on Amazon despite a $340-$360 MINIMUM price tag. It looks like consumers are seeing the value in the console!

My friend wants to buy a second PS3 but he can't find one anywhere. They're selling out everywhere.

Sev2791d ago

I haven't seen ANY in stores, and online they are sold out in most places as well.

Even calling my local Best Buy, they answered the phone saying "Thank you for calling Best Buy, we're currently sold out of the PS3 and the Wii"

here in Germany/Berlin its the same i have seen only 4 250Gb versions @ Saturn the 120Gb versions were sold out

i wonder what the hell is Sony is upto... look at all the sales they would have had.

KingME2791d ago (Edited 2791d ago )

Have your friend send me his money, I will go down to the local fred meyer or walmart here and pick it up and mail it to him. They both had several in stock this morning. Also, best buy seems to have plenty.

I do agree that they are not a plentyful as they once were, but they are not nearly as scarce as the wii was doing it's shortage.

I'm starting to wonder if Sony is releasing an updated version and is therefore allowed stock to sell out on purpose.

I had a real problem finding one online. Most local stores were out too. Found three @ bestbuy a hour away and purchased over the phone. By the time I got to the store the rest were gone.

The drought is real.

How come you're still looking? Do you want to start a PS3 collection?

ThanatosDMC2791d ago

I think it's when his fatty got YLOD. Then he was looking for a Slim. It happened to me too. It took me two weeks to finally get from best buy... nice to have a friend working there.

Sony is definitely preparing for something. Probably building up for the release of the beast that is GT5.

avengers19782791d ago

I've only been saying this for years, but there are were a ton of PS2 gamers that hadn't made the leap yet, and the only place they are going to go is to the PS3. The last two friends of mine that had 360's that died decided to go with the PS3.

Just because they are listed doesn't mean people are buying them for that price. You would have to be a complete idiot to pay more than MSRP for a PS3 or anything else for that matter. However on the other hand, we are talking about moronic PS3 N4G fanboys here.....

I love my PS3...but is it really selling THAT well? it should have overtaken 360 by now if all this hype was true.

Sev2791d ago

Well that's the issue if you read the article. There isn't much stock of PS3 at retailers, so there isn't units to sell to people wanting them.

They're selling faster than Sony can make em.

LordMarius2791d ago

it's not like the 360 has stopped selling, but the gap shrinks every year. Also what hype?

ThanatosDMC2791d ago (Edited 2791d ago )

They shrunk the cpu and move is coming out so they'll probably bundle it together.

jdktech20102791d ago

Sony is up to something....a new model or bundle will probably be announced at E3....glad I got mine in December though

boysenberry2791d ago

Yep, I haven't seen a single PS3 console in store shelves in months. Just imagine the sales if there was no shortages.. Step it up SONY!!

I just looked at my crystal ball and it's telling me the same thing.
