Crazy Taxi!! I guess the Dreamcast games coming to Live rumors were true.

vgn245074d ago (Edited 5074d ago )

What rumors? The Dreamcast ran on Windows CE based OS. The games are easy to emulate and convert. There are multiple DC titles on the 360's XBLA already. How was this ever a rumor?

Also, these don't look any better than a DC pumping out graphics on a VGA box. The DC had great graphics when shown a a VGA.

Please tell me which dreamcast games are already on the xbox 360

ThatArtGuy5073d ago

Hmmm... Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is based one the DC code. Crazy Taxi was also an arcade game as well.

Shenmue 1 and 2, in 1080p and 60FPS with your choice of language and dubs. For $20 for the two.

I'm kidding but let's be honest here you where about to turn on your 360 and you held your credit card with so much joy.

hoyvechkin5073d ago

Soulcalibur, Garou, Marvel vs Capcom 2, King of Fighters 98, Ikaruga, Rez, and Triggerheart Exelica. Some are not direct ports, but are modified. SSF2THDR is based on the dreamcast code too.

Blaze9295073d ago

Wow been under a rock this past year or something? How could you miss Soul Calibur yet alone the rest?

First of all the Dreamcast did not run on Windows CE. In fact, the hardware itself had no OS besides the traditional BIOS. Instead, the OS had to be included on each game disc. Developers could then choose to work on SEGA's native OS or a specific version of Windows CE, featuring DirectX 6. CE offered easy transition to those who were accustomed to development on PC Windows environments, however it was glitchy, troublesome and lagged in performance when compared to SEGA's OS. Few games used it and the most notable release was probably Sega Rally 2, which had disapointing visuals when compared to the arcade version and considering the power of the Dreamcast.

Besides, the Xbox 360 does not run on Windows either. It runs a proprietary OS which is highly compatible with Windows. I don't think MS has ever even released a version of Windows for PowerPC architecture.

And last but not the least, to my knowledge only 4 Dreamcast games got ported to the 360 so far: Ikaruga, Soul Calibur, MvC2, and Triggerheart Exelica.

Edit @ hoyvechkin - Forgot about REZ. But Garou and KOF98 are Neo Geo games. That SSF2THDR stuff was a nice find though.

I really hope it's true. Maybe remastered versions of these old classics? That would be great.

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH20h ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.
