Touch Arcade: Pirate's Treasure First Impressions

Touch Arcade:

Pirate's Treasure is a game similar to Minigore [$.99] with two on-screen joysticks to control the game. The right controls where you shoot and the left handles your movement. Unlike Minigore, however, Pirate's Treasure has a campaign mode that sends you on a quest to recover your gold. The game has over 50 stages, each with different missions to unlock the next.

In campaign mode, you must defeat each stage by completing a certain goal to receive a key to unlock the next level. For example, staying alive for 40 seconds or killing 20 monsters will unlock the next stage. These missions get progressively harder as you get farther in the game. As you collect more keys, you are able to access different areas of the island and play in different themed environments.

I'd Buy That For a Dollar - 3D Bio Ball & Pirates Treasure

"3D Bio Ball is the modern Marble Madness for a new generation that demands more substance with their ball rolling physics playground puzzlers. It’s even got a bit of story and a helpful robot to motivate you through the adventure." -Kyle Hilliard, GameZone

3D Bio Ball looks like a lot of fun, but Pirate's Treasure seems like the kind of game I could really get into. Why can't these be on a home console?!

3D Bio Ball kind of reminded me of Borderlands. Not in gameplay obviously, but just the style. I think it was the helpful little robot guy.

3D Bio Ball looks better to me, as an experienced i-gamer, simply because I'm really, really sick of dual-stick shooters. They used to be one of my favorite genres, but iPhone devs really overdid it. On the other hand, I love games like Marble Blast (a claaassic XBLA title).

148apps: Pirate’s Treasure Review

148apps: Is there anything new that can be said about pirates? Probably not, which is also why Chillingo’s new iPhone game, Pirate’s Treasure, seems more than a bit tired from the get-go.

The Appera: Pirate’s Treasure Review

The Appera: Pirate’s Treasure is a shooter, that you can only describe as like Minigore. It has all the elements of it, with different graphics and a different level of depth. This makes the game innately familiar, as well as an extension of the play you already know and invariably love.
