In the recent news that Insomniac Studios, the people behind Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank and Resistance, going multiplatform, I have seen one of two reactions.
I would ask you how it's not but I know you are just an idiot so there would be no point since you couldn't possible offer up an explanation for why it's not.
i think let insomniac decide what best of them. You people can stuff your opinions, if Insomniac think going multi platform is necessary for their ip, then it is a win. Let professional companies do the talking and business, not you
Yes it was. 1. As a multiplat developer, they will get more sales (just like any other multiplat dev). 2. More gamers play Insomniac's amazing games. 3. Their PS3 exclusive titles will get more exposure and may prompt new fans from the 360 to buy a PS3 just play Insomniac's collection. That's the way I see it.
@DS: I have to agree with BeaArthur, if your not gonna back up your comment why did you post it up in the first place? On another topic, I had a quick look through the article and its nothing more and a new way to enrage Fanboys. 360 owners saying this is a victory, PS3 owners say that this game was made for them, this is just fuel to throw into the deadly fire known as FANBOYS. I'm a PS3 owner, and (Fingers Crossed) I will have a 360 during the summer, because I'm OPEN MINDED, like Insomniac Games. They are trying something different, something that could reach out to other players. But you'll never know they might only make this one Multi-platform Title, they could go back and continue working on new Ratchet & Clank or Resistance, and before you say anything bad, I'm just saying what I heard a while back. Insomniac could stay with Sony, they could go to another Publisher, or they could be bought up by EA (or Microsoft). Because they have a choice, they are open minded. Be open minded. Don't be a Selfish FANBOY, like 36T
From a technical point of view ps3 gamers lose, if you cant work that out your a moron and you dont own a ps3. On the other hand insomniac gets to milk the masses of starved "other" gamers for some cash and own their IP.
I don't think Insomniac's games got the sales they deserved. The new Rachet and Clank was a great game.
Ok. We all get it. Insomniac+multiplat=good move. Fanboys be damned.
I thought insomniac would not go multiplatform but the way they did it was excellent. They still get the money pool from Sony and work on a new IP with EA. The only thing that saddens me is that their will be no more 1 game a year.
As long as Insomniac keeps pumping out PS3 exclusives all is good. They deserve to get as much income as they can. Insomniac's multiplatform projects will surely be great PS3 games too, and now 360 owners can enjoy some Insomniac quality too. All gamers win, fanboys loosem as usual...
I honestly don't care, I own both systems so I win :)
exclusivity makes a game more special , because they focus on one platform, there is more buzz around exclusive games(Free advertising), they gain more support from SONY that means more technical advancement ..etc.. so they wont make all of their games Multi.. but every beautiful mind needs money to work.. so they make more money on decent multi games.. they have more than one studio now, so their main team will make big exclusive games, and their fresh young team will make multi games.. anyway good luck to them.
If they're gonna do multiplat right then they need to make games for the PC in addition to the other consoles. I'm just thinking of the fun that can be had with a R&C type of platformer with mods. PC gaming isn't known for platformers, but it's welcome imo not to mention Insomniac has experience with FPS games too. It shouldn't be to hard to make an FPS of the same caliber as Resistance for the xbox360 AND PC.
Oh please stfu you douche, if sony was breathing down their backs they would have left long ago. And technically, Insomniac was a second party studio. Everyone wins, 360 owners, and PS3 owners. 360 owners get a good game, and PS3 owners get a new IP + exclusives.
Since you are using the word technically I believe it is appropriate to point out that technically Insomniac Games has always been a third party developer. Second party implies that the company is partly owned, and IG has never been partly owned by Sony.
Really? Then why is SE considered third party? Sony does partly own them right?
Sony owns about 8% of Square-Enix's stock, but that does not make Square-Enix a partly owned subsidiary of Sony. In fact if I am not mistaken I believe that Nintendo is the only one of the big 3 that has ever had a second party studio. Rare was a partly owned subsidiary of Nintendo.
I think we've discussed this already. Honestly, this is a win for everyone. The only people who are upset are a few fanboys. PS3 gamers win because Insomniac will continue to make PS3 exclusive and they still get to play their multiplat games as well. Xbox gamers win because they get to experience a game with the quality of a world class developer like Insomniac. And of course, Insomniac wins because they're going to be gaining a new audience and have control of their own Intellectual Property as well as the revenue that it brings in. I think a lot of these websites are trying to create a fake controversy because there is none. Besides the few fanboys on both sides, everyone pretty much seems to be ok with this.
If those are the only two reactions that the author has seen then one has to wonder why he or she is writing editorials about this. I've seen a much wider range of reactions most of which have been entirely reasonable.
i mean they wont have all of the freedom in making their new game...unlike when it is a ps3 exclusive now they have to focus on making it work the same on both consoles.....and content may be cut or limited due to the small size of the dvd compared to the blu ray... but since we're talking about insomniac..i believe they'll get through it
game for EA - Bring it on.
And the gamers loose because exclusive games is better than multiplat. In my opinion anyway.
The biggest games of the year so far Red Dead and Mass Effect 2 are multiplat and 98% of all GOTY games are multipat. There goes that theory.
God of War 3 was at least as big as Mass Effect 2.. And Mass Effect 2 was a 'Microsoft' exclusive, if you accept that term... but in the end I don't think it matters, exclusive or multiplatform. The only difference that'll be there is the visual side of the game. Gameplay wise being exclusive or multiplatform doesn't mean anything, in that sense I agree with you.
Can't wait to see what they have coming.
one game is not multiplatform
Yes a boost for exclusive ps3 development they are working on 1 game Not like EA has bought em
that was there idea back when they had there second studio.there be still doing ps3 exclusives but there be able to do new ips multiplat as well, resistance a r&c are sony,s ips and are funded by sony.insominac want there ip ownership so they will have to fund there own game, that cost big money if it flops.
Bungie goes multiplat and insomniac goes multiplat, so in the end both Microsoft and Sony do win.
bigger win for sony though. bungie made xbox.
r&c ws the only game worth note for me. Spyro the dragon come on..... resistance was never nothing special either.
aint they only doing 1 game with EA though? the rest of their games still PS exclusive.
Win Win for both systems.End of Story.
Where are these articles when Bungie went multi? hmmm
That may be true but is it a win for us? People seem to have developed a huge ego thinking that everything the game companies are doing is for us. Everyone jumps in and defends everything from prices to going multi platform to short campaigns to milking franchises to death as if the company just gave you an early Xmas present and not completely screwing you. So of course it's good for Insomniac but it still remains to be seen how well it benefits us.
