The PlayStation 3 version of one of the world’s most popular board games is coming to the U.S.
Gamers will be able to download Settlers of Catan via the PlayStation Network starting June 15, the game’s official site said Wednesday.
Settlers of Catan is a popular board game created by Klaus Teuber. Since its first publication in 1995, the game has sold 15 million copies. Last year, Wired magazine called it a “perfect” game; we were not exaggerating.
Catan will cost $6.50 and support two- to four-player online games.
Pre-orders are now live for Dovetail Games' Catan – Console Edition for Nintendo Switch. The weeklong pre-order comes with a 10% discount.
Neil writes: "Over the course of a couple of decades, Catan has made a bit of a name for itself in the tabletop community. Now though it's set to hit the virtual world as Dovetail Games and Asmodee Entertainment announce CATAN for Xbox and PlayStation."
I just hope people actually play. I loved Catan on 360. It will love and die by voice chat. I said it back then and I’ll say it now. Party chat is the best worst thing invented. Everyone will just sit in a party instead of work as a team and interact with players of the game they are in. Catan is a board game. There’s a reason there aren’t really single player board games. The social aspect is the lifeblood.
It's a strange new way to play the friendship-ending board game, acting as more of a digital alternative to the physical version than a replacement, writes Screen Rant
"The PlayStation version Catan was developed by Game Republic, the Japanese developer responsible for games like Genji and Folklore.
But don’t hold that against them."
Oh, I won't. Folklore is one of my favorite games of this entire generation. Brilliant, beautiful game.
So much folklore hate.
If they were responsible for Folklore it's definitely worth looking into then.
This will turn out as the board game no mater how
develops it so I don't really care how made it so
long as it stays the same.
Japan had it a year ago and Europe Had it 2 weeks ago... been waiting for his game for a long time...
