IGN: Who Should Direct The Mass Effect Movie?

The dense, action-packed Mass Effect universe is perfect for taking to the big screen, and the people behind The Dark Knight and 300 are going to take it there. I second that. Uwe Boll is a master of the craft. He is the next Martin Scorsese. His films are riveting. He is - okay I cannot continue to lie like this.

Maybe Bioware should create a film using the game engine. They can work on creating fluid animations and using higher textures and assets.

I don't see the point in the fanwanking.

We all know it's going to be another inept action flick. That's what all game/cartoon/anime adaptations turn out to be.

They don't respect the source material and they don't think anything but the most mindless scripts will recoup their big budget special effects. I can't be positive about this. They have let me down too many times already.

Joss Whedon would be my pick. Anyone that has seen "Serenity" knows what I'm talking about. He made a movie about "Space Cowboys" work and work well. He also did wonders on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" so I would pick him above the rest.

I don't think Serenity was that well directed or even that good a story (neither were the other 2 series). It was fan service for those who enjoyed the TV series. I think that people who never saw the film would probably have difficulty following it.

Of course when I think directing I think cinematography and I can't think of any of his series being shot in any particularly interesting way. Then again I kind of didn't like any of that stuff if you haven't picked up on that yet.

Cowboy Bebop (although an anime with a retarded name) was much better imo. And I loved Farscape when it was out.

I don't know who should direct it but I think that Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman should write the script for sure. Ofcourse this is only my opinion.

Film is the area i would love to enter but this? What's the point? It'll be daft and hammy.
It would be better off a tv series but even that I wouldnt endorse. It would just end up being one of those silly shows confined to the Sci-fi channel late at night.

It would be HD, 3D and have the correct pace to match the idiot scope (narrow and slow) and pacing of the game (compared to the books).

I'd first need to know if, as you say, she'd be interested in Sci-Fi. And if it would actually bring women and children into the story instead of just guns and giant baby aliens.

problem is his stuff is WAY grittier than Mass Effect. Remember that ME is more like Star Trek and needs to be as clean as those shows and movies. Also meaning language would be an issue since it would have to be for general audiences.

As much as I like Chris Nolan, I don't think a sci-fi space flick is his area of expertise. He's more of the 'grounded in reality' type of director.

And I just love how people are suggesting Nolan for every comic/game movie, when they didn't even know who he was before The Dark Knight. I've been a fan of his since Memento and his dark/gritty take on everything is not ideal for Mass Effect. Maybe, someone like J.J.Abrams could do it.....

Look at Batman: Arkham Asylum, amazing game, Know why? because the developers where genuine hardcore Batman fans and wanted to do the comic justice.

Bay knows action, which is what this movie would be all about. The intrigue would be as thin as a shower curtain to fit into the 2 hour time limit. And between those three none would allow the main male characters to be as pansy-ass as they are in the game.

Bay sucks. None of his films had substance. It was just pretty CGI and explosions. He doesn't know how to use the actors. BTW, Transformers 1 & 2 sucked donkey balls.
