Square Enix hasn't talked about Final Fantasy Versus XIII much, but during a Korean launch event for Final Fantasy XIII, a small tidbit of information on the status of Versus surfaced.
Let's hope Square doesn't screw its fans over and make it multiplatform causing the game to be less than what it could be.
Seems like alot of anger is built up in this room! Hopefully, it turns out well.
Not quite anger. I am loving FF13 and I don't understand what all the hate is about. It could have been better, yes, but it's far from a bad game.
I agree with you, but I actually want FF13 to look like the CGI or better yet be able produce big EPIC battles like God of War/MGS4/Uncharted kind. I know that those kinds of things can only be done on the PS3, so I want it to be a exculsive.
The title should be "Still No Final Fantasy Versus XIII Update" . Thanks for wasting my precious time.
come on now, fanboyism aside there is a reason why gears 2 (released in 2008) is still the best looking game on the 360 unless your talking about power in it's many different meanings
Light Yagami probably mean the power of the 3 red lights lol
How is this an update? They didn't tell us anything. This is more like a reminder that it exists and various information everybody following this game already knows. The crap that people write for hits!
learn to skip it.
of the same screen shots from like 4 years ago......Lets see some gameplay pics already. FF13v does not have me sold. I'm also expecting this to go MP, so don't be surprised if it does...after the ff13 shocker, this won't be surprising if it does.
I wouldn't mind FFvsXIII going multi if only the X360 had a high capacity media format like the blu-ray. Because it is obvious they are going to cut lots of content due to space limitation to keep the disc count low. This has nothing to do with graphics, that the X360's less capable or whatever. They can always downgrade resolution and other things to make the game playable on either console. The thing is, what will happen when you're half through the game on the second or third disc of the X360 version? Considering the game will be less linear, on the PS3 will you be able to access early areas and on the X360 not? Or are they going to restrict early areas to make both versions equal even though the PS3 version will be on a single disc just like they did with FFXIII and let the free roaming for the final disc because the X360 couldn't handle it... Just read why they started development of FFvsXIII exclusively for the PS3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... If Wada make this game multiplat he's gonna ruin it unless they simply forget about making both versions equal. But then one version's going to sell more than the other by a huge margin and the money put toward the second version will be a waste.
The only way FFvsXIII could be in the xbox is if SE take a different route with the Xbox version by making it linear and tell the story that way and for the PS3 keep it open world and not cut nothing out of it
On the PS1 Square got around disc storage by taking out towns and villages that were on earlier discs. This meant that players missed out on things from earlier in the game... it was well sh*t.
I don't want to see it at e3 that increases the probability of the game going to Microsoft and thus loosing its soul. I wouldn't even buy it.
C'mon it's not like they are starting development of the game now, in that case the ones getting the "less good" version are X360 owners and they are the only ones entitled to dislike and express their opintion if SE all of the sudden goes multiplatform to squeeze more money from them via en inferior port. I'm looking forward to Versus due to the different gameplay and more mature story (on the paper) than FF XIII...the PS3 I purchased for MGS4 has payed off already with awesome games and with or without exclusive FF, PS3 is today an awesome investment for anyone, the best games in the last 2 years are there. Many GOTY winners: MGS4, Uncharted 2, LBP, Demon's Souls, Killzone 2. This is an awesome achievement if you ask me, we are not talking about the last 5 years but only the last 2! then you have other quality games like: God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Resistance, Infamous, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword...too many really Personally I loved Folklore and SIREN:BC, 2 real gems! so don't really get it why FF is that important. ps. Love FF and it's not like I won't have the possibility to play it.
FF is not as important anymore as it has dropped quality over the years, but if SE finds the magic and makes another great FF, then we are all in for a treat, the last great FF was FFX sadly, and if it goes multiplat then they will have to split resources resulting in another mediocre FF being pumped out
if ffv13 goes multiplat, it will be SE's biggest fail in history
I thought Final Fantasy XIII already took that crown...
When it comes to Going Downhill, there is no real Limit, maybe thats' what Wada wants to do...
Versus 13 is going to suck no matter what platform it ends up on.
WTF are with you pathetic people? Stop jumping on the Wagon...XII/12 sucked was that 360s fault too? No it just sucked cause SE sucks now. If 12 was on 360 you'd blame 360 too, but it wasn't SE SUCKS NOW!
God I hate idiots who don't know what they're talking about, go play a shooter or something.
hopefully it stays exclusive.
Yeah it would make sense to release information at the Tokyo Game Show. I cannot see a multiplatform announcement taken place in Japan...hopefully.
I hope its better then 13.
That won't be difficult ..
much like the girl that goes to the prom.
It will be difficult, I dunno if any game this gen will beat FFXIII for me, well MGS4 is better than XIII so only MGS5 can do this or GT5, but GT5 is delayed again so who knows.
@above, wha? are you being serious? XIII was a huge disappointment for me. I'm 45-50 hours in and I can say that the battle system is fun at first but it eventually becomes repetitive and boring. The game is actually easy but I did die a lot until I got used to it,(what's up with the hardest ff game claim?) if you level up moderately. Some Bosses are challenging at first but after 1-5 maybe more re-battles it's easy, I never got stuck. Super linear, It doesn't really open up at all and it feels like a chore. The story is good at best, nothing worth mentioning. CP, Side Mission and Shop feels tacked on. No towns. - 1 of the worst FF imo but still a good game though.
Well if it does go multi i am betting nomura will leave, hopefully start his own company or join sony i cant imagine simple franchise branding would make him stay. He could start a new franchise get studio japan and ueda to help with it and get disney to fund it :P
Don't be ridiculous, Nomura isn't a fanboy, he's 40 years old not 14.
your 2 young to know what creative integrity is.
lol jack is Right you Dumb, Nomura is What makes the SE ship still standing afloat, the man concern was/IS FFvs13 Exclusive for the PS3 since Day One, he allow and bear to much crap coming from SE, no doubt he'll leave IF Wada and crowd don't Respect his Conditions, the same way Sakaguchi did long ago...
I'd rather Nomura-san leave Square Enix. He does not deserve to be treated with such disrespect. Square Enix views Nomura-san as the chicken that lays the golden eggs. Square Enix takes the golden eggs and does what it wants without concern for Nomura-san.
I don't see how square is disrespecting him. You guys are just butthurt that versus XIII might go multiplatform.
Disrespect? By letting him be the director of a new IP and giving him the tools to create IPs like Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Crisis Core etc? Just because he is talented doesn't mean he deserves special treatment (if that is what you mean by "disrespect") You can be the the most talented fry cook to work on Burger King but you are still a fry cook.
if nomura ever leave squareenix, he will get his own company. Sony or activision will gobble him up.
LOL!!! Not saying I agree with you, but that still made me lol! Just the way you phrased it, I almost spit out my beer!
When say disrespect, I'm referring to the people like Wada who are trying to control Nomura-san's project. After working for years on Versus with a vision in mind, the corporate suits get money hungry and attempt to force the project to go multiplatform. Nomura-san has no intention of developing for the 360 so why force him and his team? I understand that one can argue he is not the boss and does not have the final say, but I find that wrong. It's like dictating an artist on how to draw the painting.
You seriously need to stop. Why are you clinging so bad to the hope that the game DOES go multi? If you want it that bad, go get a job and actually BUY a PS3. Not sure what's stopping you. It's not as if they are that expensive anymore. Oh, and way to call EVERYONE who dares to not agree with you a "butthurt fanboy". Real original tactic.
When squeenix gets out of this generation, the next won't care much about what else they have for development. I think it's safe to say the new Squaresoft are companies such as bioware and santa monica studios.
I'm hoping Nomura and CO. are just too damn focused on this game to not even be bothered with showing it. Problem is, they announce these games too soon. Versus should have been announced either in 2008 or last year. I want SOME short of update at E3 though, even if it's just a short progress report like "game is x% complete, releases next year." To jump into the multiplatform hype, if Versus goes to the 360, who is to say Mass Effect and Gears of War won't jump ship at the same time? It would certainly negate the thunder.
Again, why don't we worry less about what platform(s) the game is on, and start worrying about whether the game will be good at all. For my money, FFXIII was crap.
BTW how are things in Burbank?
1. FFXIII wasn't the game it was before it went multiplatform. People fear that Versus will suffer the same fate if it is announced (and there is legit reason to believe such). 2. These people want to claim that it's just PS3 fanboys that are butthurt over something, when it's them that just think that they should have, and are entitled to, every single third party PS3 exclusive. 3. Microsoft needs to worry more about their own true exclusives this year at E3, not concerned about getting a "shoulder tap" this time. They obsession over getting them is what got MS to the trouble they are in now, and the fanboys just want them to do MORE? The shoulder taps are WHY they don't have any more true exclusives other than the same lists we see countless times. MS just wants to eliminate reasons for us to want to buy a PS3 instead of worrying about telling us why we should buy a 360. Again, that's why they are in this position now. 4. It's not going to really benefit either party to do so at this point. Many who have wanted to get this game have already gotten a PS3 for it. After FF13 failed to sell well on the 360 (face it, fanboys, it DIDN'T, no matter how many times and/or ways you try to spin it), what would it do to benefit SE, MS, or anyone else for the game to go multiplat NOW? 5. It going multiplat NOW would mean, in short, us waiting LONGER to get our hands on the damned game already. I'm wondering where in all of this talk of who's really butthurt over this did these fanboys forget about us having to wait for the 360 version of these picked-off games to get done before ANYONE could play the game. Oh, wait, I forgot: the fanboys don't CARE! They just ignore that point because hey, the 360 will get it too, so why SHOULD they care that the PS3 owners were waiting for YEARS for a third party exclusive only to find out that the ONLY reason for the delays were so MS and the 360 fanboys could have their way, too. Don't believe me? Just look at Tekken 6. That game should've been released on the PS3 WAY before TGS08! There was no reason to delay it THAT long, and once the 360 version was announced and that we knew that the PS3 version wouldn't come out until the 360 version would (and there was a chance that the 360 would have a bit of exclusivity for it at one point), people should've realized why it was not a GOOD thing.
Well if it does go multi-plat then what will they do about the airship, since they have already said they have had it working. Unless it plays like 7 where you have to beat the first disc or two too really use the airship.
thank god sony need to be at low profile on this one they cant show at e3 where will be alot of ms executives
I lost my interest the moment I heard (Considering).
That's pretty sad that you lost interest in a game because it might go multiplatform. Your loss.
oh wait I lost nothing, cause that game DID turn out to be a giant fucking TURD like I anticipated, just like they started to delay the game even more like I anticipated, etc. Funny how you can just watch Squeenix's track record with "EXCLUSIVES" (Star Ocean, Last Remnant, etc)and just kinda forsee how a multiplat attempt will pan out... oh wait, you probably can't, you read "multiplat" and instantly started defending it cause now all of us have to deal with a steaming pile, instead of some of us getting to play a solid game.
might as well dont mention it
Final Fantasy Versus XIII looks so awesome, I need this game, please square I'm begging for a new trailer(or leak) this year(more like E3). This game was MADE for me.
Square-Enix is garbage as they proved that even FF13 couldn't save them. I'm sure this will be yet another mediocre game as well. No point in playing crap from S-E when I already know it will be garbage before it ships. Kind of like the same thing with Compile Hearts.
im suprise people still got faith in SE ffxiii wasnt their 1st game this gen seem like they dont even know what they want anymore like theyre lost.lol. well hope they make a game their fans is proud of cuz it seem like theyre living off their name.
SE obviously wants to make money like any other company so they don't care if the game doesn't look all that good but they just want to make profit like any other company
could be the most boring rpg that i have ever played. the pressing of L1 and x to fight every enemy while building your atb bar was an exercise in bordom. ff13 felt like pieces were missing. build your stagger bar with com, rav, and syn and after it is filled pull out rav rav rav or com rav sen. Boring. people are delusional if they feel the 360 did not have something to do with the cut content. if ffvs13 goes multi i am still going to by it. 360 only owners, expect more 576p
...so we can start talking about the future of Kingdom Hearts! <3 <3 <3 That will have to stay a loyal PlayStation main console game! (Yea, even though the knockoffs and sidequests went handheld).
I don't see anything thats in this article that we haven't already seen....
If this game goes multi I'm not getting it I've waited 4+ years for this game cus wen they showed this game 4 years ago thatv trailer was just so awesome that got me excited but since that dumb ass of wada is looking to making the game multi is not gona be good if they go that direction again and if it happens I'm hoping nomura leaves SE and start his own company wit sony or level 5 could get him comon SE leave this game exclusive so that we the fans of this series one last good final fantasy and I mean A TRUE NEXT GEN FINAL FANTASY NOT SOME CRAP LIKE FFIII then we could u noe leave u guys alone and let SE burn to the ground wit that idiot wada I miss the old squaresoft they were awesome baq then
last time I checked this wasn't offically a PS3 dedicated website. But it might as well be judgeing by all the comments anyways Light is right each system has there pluses and minuses but I'm not going into details because I've explained way too many damn times to you sony fantards btw if it wasn't for the multiplatform move FF13 wouldn't have reached 5 million on the PS3 alone PS3 version may have sold more but the 360 version helped out quite a bit actaully I'll probably get tons of disagrees but who gives a shit
Sales sales sales when have sales of game meant it was amazing just dance should win game of year then.
I hope Versus goes back to its roots and away from the lackluster, mainstream attempt that is Final Fantasy XIII.
I like how 360 fanboys are acting like they're actually going to buy it if it goes multiplatform. Hey, which version of FFXIII sold better again? Oh yeah, that's right...the PS3 version. You just want to wave your pom poms if it goes multipltform. Sad.
I think its funny and sad you hide your anger over a game that might be multiplatform
Who's angry? It's *possible* It may go multiplatform so don't jump around like hyenas yet. It's quality that suffers either way. If you like getting crap games, then fine by me. It's funny and sad you give a damn about my opinion.
your right nobody should give a damn about your crappy opinion fool
Update = something new. SE said we gonna announced it when the time is right is an update? This is a joke. And for the rest of the Sony Fanboy, FF series is a multi-platform game (NES,SNES,PS,Xbox)......it is not OWNED BY SONY. What is so hard to understand? For the game being crappy, tell that to SE. They tried unsuccessfully to recapture the magic of FF10. Personally, the game isn't that bad and the gimp version was the x360 not PS3. FF13 on PS3 ran at 720p, 2xMSAA, 1080p CG, uncompress sound, etc...just like other high profile PS3 exclusive games (UC2/KZ2/GoW3) with a lots more game play, larger environments and less linear (except the first 13 chapters). @thoreau What FF games doesn't have repeating game play elements (same attack pattern, leveling, summon, summoning cut scenes that could last up to 15 mins that you have seen 1000 times already, etc..)? If 3 DVD can't handle it (each still have ~1-2 gig left), could they just put on 4 DVDs instead like Lost Odyssey? New developers like Myst Walker can do it, but SE can't afford another disc? I wouldn't be surprise if SE purposely remove those contents (a zoo, lightning home, revolution team secrete hide out) as paid DLCs later. However, it is quite logical to do so in business. How else can they recuperate the development costs when the game price hasn't change much over the previous generations? Remember, game now a day are much more complex (lighting, physics, textures, AA, etc.......not simple 3D box figures like FF7) to develop that require more time and labor ---> very costly. I don't know if you are working or not, but this is what developers have to deal with....or else they won't be able to maintain the business. It is the same for every company out there, not just gaming industry. You guys sure asking for too much but don't know squat about business. They aren't charity organizations and even that, requires money to maintain.
Listen AND OBSERVE! 1. "White Engine (now changed to Crystal Tools) was designed according to world renowned developer Tetsuya Nomura to ====>simulate battle sequences<===== similar to Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete." Note: That DIDN'T happen in FFXIII when it went multiplat, but for some reason it appeared in the 2007 trailer.. OOPS!! Observe at 0:52 <=== http://www.youtube.com/watc... (EPIC concept demolished) 2. "He at one time via Famitsu stated that “all visions come true” when a game is exclusive. " Note: Did you see that? I didn't say this, Nomura did! 3. " Nomura stated via QJ.net “It’s not just about how pretty the graphics are but more of how much limited amount of movement we can put on one go and how big our imagination and ideas are. The PS3 is the machine that is closest to being able to express our imagination.” Note: So while the multi-plat may not have affected the graphics on the PS3, the true essence of the game; (e.g. limited movement <=== refer to "dynamic fighting" on point 1.) how "BIG" the imaginations and ideas are and WHAT system it can be delivered upon..... All I see in that statement...... is the PS3. I didn't make that up if I tried! 4. "Square has done games for us in the past, and I think there’s a point where Square just has to look at the Xbox 360, the install base and attach rates that we’re seeing and actually has to make a decision on their own that it’s the right thing to do for them…I think it’s easy to assume that something’s going on behind the scenes, I think the more obvious answer is we’re doing really well and the game creators want their games to be where the most people and the most consoles [are], and right now that’s the Xbox 360.” Note: And for this dumb reason, Wada decided to make the game multiplat while the true "visionary" left the project to "Kitase" who believes the game should appeal to "western" gamers. Ignoring where the true fanbase are, as evidence: If you look at the sales, the PS3 could easily sell 4 million WITHOUT the need for 360 and that is a LOT of sales and no doubt it would be a lot higher if it were exclusive. QUESTION: Will the same MISTAKE happen again in this game? Will the visions of Nomura that was supposed to be in FFXIII be delivered here again? One things, for sure: No Nomura, no PS3 exclusive. Kitase is probably holding the reins with Wada. -End statement
I wouldn't mind FFvsXIII going multi if only the X360 had a high capacity media format like the blu-ray. Because it is obvious they are going to cut lots of content due to space limitation to keep the disc count low.
