Microsoft 4th-qtr profit rises despite Xbox charge

Microsoft Corp. today announced revenue of $13.37 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2007, a 13% increase over the same period of the prior year. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.31. Excluding $0.08 of previously announced charges primarily related to Xbox 360 warranty policies, earnings per share would have been $0.39, an increase of 26% over the same period of the prior year when also adjusted for certain items.

..."Surpassing $50 billion in annual sales is a testament to the innovation and value that our product groups delivered into the marketplace, as well as the outstanding execution by our field sales, marketing teams and partners to bring that value to life with our customers," said Kevin Turner, chief operating officer at Microsoft. "In fiscal year 2008, we will continue to drive growth through new product offerings, such as Windows Server® 2008, Visual Studio® 2008, SQL Server 2008, Office PerformancePoint Server 2007, and Microsoft Dynamics Live CRM."...

Now queue the price cut and shut up all the PS3 fan boys about it outselling the 360 for a week, after all that data may be false and the 360 still probably outsold the PS3. Microsoft has balls and the money to back it up. Price cut ahoy, and the PS3 will have the last few nails hammered into its coffin.

I can tell that you're steamed about PS3 outselling XBOX 360 last week. Really you don't need a price cut you have Halo 3 to win you this holiday.

EDIT:

I only have a bubble because this site is full of fanboys. It's a fanboy site and yet they have control of your bubbles. Makes so much sense... from a site that makes it's living off flamewars. No wonder so many people have more than one account.

Also, If XBOX 360 goes down to $299, it would be a nightmare for Sony. I personally think Sony would somehow find a way to get a $399 sku out. But I don't think Sony is just gonna sit back and watch their death like this asshole predicts. If things get out of hand, it's desperation time.

Now bring on the disagrees XBOTS. Why the hell would I want XBOTS to agree with me?

...and by the way, Shove your XBOX 360 up your ass. I can see you're already afraid and wishing for a price drop. You know if PS3 costed the same as XBOX 360, you're finished.

I get attacked every time i mention a 360 price cut MS has reserve money for the Xbox anyways. MS has controll of the traditional console market and could monopolize the market at will(Wii's in-between a hand held and console its in its own market).

fenderputty3748d ago

you're always posting in positive PS3 news trying to being it and it's users down.

Good news for MS. Hopefully they do drop their price. It will only serve to motivate another PS3 drop as well. Competition is good. You'll never see me wishing death upon MS or the 360. Why some of you wish it for the PS3 is beyond me.

Time for a $100 price cut on all SKU's to coincide with the Halo 3 launch.
That would cause absolute mayhem.

okcomputer3748d ago

Yea the only games I want to play on the 360 are gears and mass effect. But at only $300 it'd be hard not to pick one up if they fixed the hardware issues.

Halo 3 is popular enough to sell 360s at 400 dollars. I expect Microsoft to not reduce price when the game is released, it will sell a lot of new systems and then just before the Holiday frenzy they will probably drop price maybe after introducing Falcon. My $0.02.
