Guild Wars 2 Writer: WoW "Not A Story."

Guild Wars 2 writer Ree Soesbee has suggested that the majority of activities offered to players by World of Warcraft do not constitute a story.

"I don't consider doing those raids and instances the same thing as telling a story. It's not. You're getting to see awesome stuff, but you're not really experiencing a story," she said.

Reiterating the point, Soesbee added "The story in WoW is that you run into a guy's home / lair / castle and you beat him up. It's cool ... but not a story." (Guild Wars 2, PC, World of Warcraft)

Someone did not clear ICC, amirite? Because love it or hate it, story is progressed in a pretty decent way. Wrathgate and so many side quests.

anyways, she is allowed to have her opinion, I don; t agree with it, but I am excited to see what Guild Wars two will do that is so different to WoW when it comes to presenting the story to 25 people in a raid instance.

Haha
World of Warcraft possibly has one of the best stories ever, and the story progresses as the raids go on and patches move forward, and best of all everything actually has an explanation, every single change they do ties into lore someway.

Guild Wars 1 already tells a story better than WoW so I'm interested to see how much they added for GW2. WoW has it all there, but you really have to give a damn, and when I played I was just interested in purples. I think I stopped caring when "they stole the light" hah...
