Ex: Michael Pachter may call it the Wii-HD, but Sony is launching a preemptive strike on publishers trying to simply port their existing Wii games to their upcoming Playstation Move peripheral.
(PS3, Sony)
The Move still needs the definitive hardcore title but Sony has shown a lot of dedication for the controller. E3 will show us a lot of games and if they have a nice mix of casual and core titles, they may be set. They have casual set already.
Why do people skip Socom 4 and say the PS3 isn't showing any Hardcore use of Move? A Hardcore 3rd Person Motion Controlled shooter is exactly what it is.
It could be it, but if you aren't a fan of SOCOM you need something else to get you interested in it. SOCOM 4 is a great start but they need another big core franchise supporting it.
Do you really think Ps3 owners buy lazy 360 ports with all the awesome exclusive games dropping left, right and center. Check the friggin sales charts. Most crap ports gets left in the dust my exclusives.
i'd say to sony don't worry about lazy wii ports to move instead worry about all those lazy 360 ports to the ps3 cough !!! rockstar rdr sony u should be ashamed to allow a sh#t a#s port like that to be on the ps3.
People seem to forget that the Move being similar to the Wii is actually a great thing, at least from a business perspective. Everything for Natal will be a one off. There will be not multiplatofrm Natal games. If I were a dev and I had the choice to make a game for the 360's market or the PS3 AND!!! Wii market, the choice is a no brainier. Thats the Wii's huge install base + the PS3's install base. I mean you can almost taste the money. Not saying Natal won't have good games, just from a business perspective it makes a lot more sense to develop for the Move/Wii.
awesome less shoveware, Im tired of old game ports, give me CellBroad engine games technology and used BD with no restriction, stop be lazy third party developers spend your money on the ps3 your game will sale. Playb3yond
Reminds me of the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Did not seem to make a differnce if the game was good or bad. I have the same feeling Sony will still let bad port from the Wii come over, for a nice fee. But there is always hope Sony can stay true to their word, and here's hoping they will.
The Seal of Quality was the assurance from Nintendo that it would work properly with the system and that it was officially licensed. It had nothing to do with the quality of the game itself.
Move may get some shovelware, but it will be interesting to see if it lasts. Half the reason Wii is plagued by it, is that uninformed people purchase it. Hopefully if any shovelware comes to the PS3 people people will leave it where it belongs in the bargain bin aging.
We all know there are going to be some crappy ports. I'm sure Sony's intentions are to have new IP's designed for the Move, but they are fooling themselves if they think they aren't going to have some Wii ports. Same goes for Natal.
"We'll do everything we can, whether it's up-res, add trophies, and do things and make it network-only so you don't see it on a disc, but at the same time, we don't have to approve it if we don't want to go down that path"
Where now, exactly, where Sony stating that anything they are producing or anything any other developer is producing, is AAA GOTY type stuff?
From what i can read in that small paragraph, is that they stated they would basically not accept straight ports onto the system, and that they would want to add things to it to make it stand out to the Wii's counterpart.
Not only that, how do you know that the Kung-Fu game (?) isn't actually going to be decent??
No bloody wonder some of you guys have 1 bubble, and its not because of a certain set of fans. Its because, by in large, you talk complete and utter horse sh*t.
at the very least, for all the Wii+PS3 owners out there, if there's a choice between the Wii and PS3 version, the latter should be the choice and should take the bulk of the sales if higher quality reflects higher sales. Not saying that I want better Shovelware on my PS3. I demand hardcore games, or at least precise casual games.
As a matter of fact, they can - by simply not approving it. There's a reason you don't see a TON of games in the PSN. For the most part Sony has done a stellar job of upholding their standards there.
But.. The simple fact is there will be shovelware, there is shovelware on the PS3 right now. The only thing they will do is make sure ports from Wii offer some type of PS3 only advantage.
@janf are u talking about rdr? Cause i've been playing it on my PS3 wich is hook up to a samsung 55" 240hz led tv and it looks AWSOME!!!!!!! So stop trolling!!
I hope Sony sticks with the no shovelware rule the Wii has some decent games but thats all the system has is shovelware. And I am getting sick going into Gamestop and seeing shovelware game after game on the Wii and some developers wonder why they are finacially broke because of the shovelware.
But really is this good business move for them ? Iam not saying I want these games but just saying they will lose alot of money that could be made to support other big games I dont see the problem having load of rubbish games if your not going to play them.
Sony demanded same with PS2 -> PSP ports Sony had a standing policy of adding "at least 30% more content" for any game ported from the PS2 to the PSP.
You can bet they will enforce the same kind of thing with the Move. If you're getting away with a simple port, it needs to be worthy of a repurchase, for Sony to consider it.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that was *exactly* the reason so many 360 JRPGs show up on the PS3 a year late and with a load more content -- works out well for both Sony and the dev.
Sony has always demand quality over quantity before. Why should the Move be any different? They won't have a thousand games but the ones that they have will be good ones
Would anyone expect Sony to say something different. If the devs wont take the time to make sure the game is of a quality that all Playstation games must meet then they wont approve it.If it was already released it must have extra content to get approval and I sure that they will set a res standard that games must meej to be approved so no standard def games probably have to meet the standard level to be considered HD which I forget at this point in time but its under 720p.
Look Sony, that's cute and brave sounding and everything but this is the real world.
You are trying to launch an expensive and complicated accessory controller late in the life of your console that imitates the look and feel of a competitor who is kicking your butt in the marketplace.
If you really weren't going to tolerate any lazy 'Wii to move' ports then there would be no move. The publishers would have already told you to go straight to hell with your dumb 'mii-too' gizmo and consigned the Move to an early ignominious death without significant support. If you want any support for the thing then you will not be either fussy OR cranky.
C'mon. I wasn't born yesterday.
Shovel ware adaptions ahoy. And The same goes for Natal. Probably DOUBLE for Natal.
A Hardcore 3rd Person Motion Controlled shooter is exactly what it is.
Good question, considering how hardcore and dedicated is the Socom community.
Everything we just tasted these past few weeks are just appetizers.
You guys should be also saying, 'we won't tolerate lazy 360 ports'.
I'll be playing RDR to!.

You dont want wii shovelware. Seems theyve been really trying to stress that point lately.
you'd still be complaining that they are not taking the Anti-Wii (lazy motion controls) thing seriously.
Ignorant.

Theirs going to be shovelware, no doubt about it and they can't stop it.

Capcom is gonna be pissed!
You deserve a response and an agree. lol good one man
