In the 1990s, anthropomorphic animals were all the rage. Sonic the Hedgehog, Aero the Acrobat, Bubsy, Star Fox and the list could go on. Konami tried their hand at capturing the success of animals with attitude in Rocket Knight Adventures on the Sega Genesis. The game followed the tale of opossum Sparkster who fights for justice against pigs and robots. After a sequel and a spin-off on the Super Nintendo, the Rocket Knight franchise went dormant. Until now. Sparkster is back in an downloadable game simply called Rocket Knight. It continues the story of the honorable opossum that takes into account all the time since the last adventure. When a new threat arises, Sparkster dons his jetpack and takes to the skies to defend the kingdom once again. Throughout the game, it is apparent the developers at Climax understood the franchise well and updated it, while keeping the essence of the experience.
