New Crysis 2 Details emerge in the latest issue of PC Gamer, Scans Inside

The latest issue of PC Gamer has recently arrived into subscribers hands and one of them has been thoughtful enough to “publish” the scans of a very interesting and well written Crysis 2 (or should i say “HALO Killer” ?) preview (actually more of an interview with Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli).

They really must believe that will happen. What exactly are they trying to kill should be the real question.

Graphics? No doubt.
Technical aspects? No doubt.
Story? lol, right - is that why they hired Richard Morgan?
Gameplay? Who knows, maybe.
Popularity? LOL

Does/did Crysis even offer the same game play diversity? Oh well as long as the 360 version is closest to the PC version. The devs are doing the same thing RockStar did with RDR[showing off the 360 version to all media]

EDIT below

So Crysis has bada$$ multi player, open world level design with co-op, ground vehicles, air vehicles and now First person flying, First or Third person option of gameplay? I though Crysis was widely seen as a generic FPS with state of the art graphics. Must be a PS3 fanboy.

dirthurts2707d ago

Halo is a pretty simple game. Crysis offers way more diversity in gameplay in my opinion. You should really go play the game.

HolyOrangeCows2707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

LOL, so you hope...I mean assume...that the 360 will get the superior piece of this?:

(First console screens)

Whoop-dee-freaking-doo, fanboy.
It'll no doubt be the best looking 360 game, though :)

karan86242707d ago

Are you dumb?

Crysis has multiplayer, open world level design (You get access to miles of island for a single level), there is a full level editor, there are both type of vehicles, and yes you fly a VTOL in first person

You know nothing about the game and still dont keep your mouth shut. Must be a 360 fanboy

Hallmark Moment2707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

He said with co-op jackass. Must be an idiot PC and PS3 fanboy. It's clear some ignorant PS3 fans in here have not played Halo enough to give their pathetic opinions.

First. you have to match Halo appeal and gameplay
Second. create an interesting universe
Third. create a arcade style game every demographic likes
Fourth. Wait and see if your game becomes iconic and starts stealing sales from the Halo base.

PS3 fanboys 2 cents isn't worth the TP I wipe my bum with. Look at the PS3 fanboys in here defending the wild claim when they don't know any better.

ShinMaster2707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

It's always amusing to see a 360 fanboy try to sound neutral and like he knows what he's talking about, giving false positives with shallow references from RDR and whatnot.

ultramoot2707d ago

You've never even played Crysis, have you? The gameplay elements are so much more diverse than Halo, and believe me, I've played all 3 of them. The problem is that many people thought it was gonna be a generic run-n-gun game, but it wasn't. What many don't realize is that there is much more to Crysis than "Cloak Engaged".

karl2707d ago

i like this point

"Third. create a arcade style game every demographic likes"

because u cant make a hardcore game, and not be casual, and do that at the same time

HALO is a good game... just not that great, i wish people would just get that

Hey, there is alot of room for another great FPS...As far as Crytek is concerned, they have something to prove...Personaly, I wish they would stay away from all the bravado and just get it done...Right now, they are unproven on consoles while Halo is rock solid at what they do. Their Fan base is developed and secure...Many of those same gamers are potential customers for Crysis...Wht would you drive a wedge and splinter your demographic...Bad business decision...especially when your game looks like Halo with the suit and everything....just saying...

BTW...Reach does look really good at 720p & 30fps...chk it out...

darkmurder2707d ago

Am i the only thinking that since they developed for consoles first, this will look worse than the original on pc?

Raf1k12706d ago

I think it'll look the same on PC as it will on 360 but with higher resolution and more AA.

The PC version will be able to have more in it but will be kept at the same lower level as the 360 to keep the games the same.

BattleAxe2707d ago

Killzone 3 is gonna blow this game out of the water....especially when I play it in 3D.

taktak2707d ago

PS3 might be able to play Killzone 3 in 3D at 480p or below. now if you are fine with that:P

BattleAxe2707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

Ah, you're just jealous :D Ever play Killzone 2? I own Crysis and I've played it on enthusiast settings on my Studio XPS 9000 with my xbox 360 controller for PC, but its just not as good of a game.

STONEY42707d ago

Why would they even need to call a game that is primarily for PC a Halo killer? It has no similarities AT ALL. And it's likely not even online focused, it will probably be single-player focused like the first one was.

eggbert2707d ago

of crysis 1 was terrible. I don't even know how the multiplayer got that bad.

For those fo yuo who never played, the multiplayer consisted of 90% hackers, and everyone else just lagged because of bad servers. It didn't help that EVERYONE just used the speed enhancement part of the suit (which made the lag even worse).

Also some of the hackers in the game were just ridiculous, almost all of them had instant-headshot-from-across-t he-map hacks.

A change in the wind2707d ago

Crysis, a Halo killer??? Hahaha. I`m going to have to stand by Halo on this one.

edoman202707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

To me far cry was the halo killer back in the 2004

Farcry killed everygame games in graphics, gamplay and AI

So crysis didnt need to be a 10 year old game killer, i was done a long time ago

Crysis is playing in a league of his own

sid4gamerfreak2707d ago

Crysis 2 is gonna be awesome...on the best gaming platform :PC

ALFAxD_CENTAURO2707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

Lol, that's right, don't you know Wii can handle Cryengine 3? Here is the evidence:

darkmurder2707d ago

Rofl great vid, bubbles for you for making me laugh.

ExgamerLegends22707d ago

I was waiting for Crysis to rear its head.

If rumors be true the new Killzone engine has 5x polycount on all characters and much more open levels. But I'm sure (despite the jaggy screens released) Crysis 2 (PC version) has a couple new upgrades as well. Now I know comparisons are the bane civilized comment boards here, but I actually cant wait for this graphical comparison.

I firmly believe KZ3 will look better than the console crysis. No fun there. But Crysis 2 PC is another story. The original Crysis trumped KZ2 but not by much so we'll just have to see round 2.

Pandamobile2707d ago

I doubt console-Crysis 2 will really be anything truly spectacular.

But like you said, the PC version will just raise the bar that Crysis 1 set 3 years ago even higher.

ExgamerLegends22707d ago (Edited 2707d ago )

if we're being honest there are some areas where KZ2 did better but Crysis looked better overall I think. But the point is that a console game is holding its own against the pride of the PC graphics whores. Thats why I find the KZ vs Crysis comparisons so interesting.

EDIT: Sorry this was a reply to waterboy.

waterboy2707d ago

trumped killzone 2 nowhere

Pandamobile2707d ago

You mean besides the character models, environment detail, texture detail, shader quality, post processing quality and lighting?

Killzone 2 had better animations, I'll give it that, but if you were to seriously compare all the different graphical aspects of the two games, there's not really much of a comparison at all.

Pretty much every texture in Crysis is 1024x1024 or 2048x2048 (character models). Don't believe me? Go through the texture cache files and extract a few and look at the properties. Textures of that size are next to impossible to do in abundance on a system with 256 MB of VRAM.

Kahvipannu2706d ago (Edited 2706d ago )

And Crysis is sandbox like, KZ2 scripted pipe shooter. PC-Crysis2 will crush everything graphically. I have to get it for X0, since my laptop no way runs it..
