PlayStation 3 owners that are trying to connect a Section 8 online game, which is using content they do not own (such as DLC) are getting this weird error message - sending them to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace in order to buy the missing content.
It only does XBL? I remember this happening in the past to some game, though I don't remember which. Funny stuff though. @Fierce Eh, more like predictable. It was bound to be said lol.
Good one. lol
Like XBL was displaying PSN, or something like that.
haha i think it happened in need for speed shift. except it was sending live players to the psn.
I think this is what you're talking about: http://kotaku.com/5368824/n...
I think the game your are referring to was NFS. Edit: I seem to have been beaten to the punch lol.
if the PS3 could play 360 games... would that count as backward compatibility?
Bubble added for intelligent comment...lol
PS3 does play 360 games - it just backwards compatibility due to the fact it's normally a cheaply rushed port. Have learnt when buying games for my PS3 to buy exclusives only, the rest I buy for the 360 ( shame but true )
ok, i guess its normal inhere to expect a serious answer about a joke.
If the PS3 can go to Live does that mean we can finally have cross game chat?
lol at Karl good one. I love a bit of humour in the n4g battlezone. Your comment begs the question: If the ps3 runs the 360 Rdr version in b/compatibility mode, will it run better than the ps3 version? ;)
Emulators always suck
Lol good one. Kkkkkillzowned
Same thing happened with other game on Xbox, I don't remember what was the game, but the error was in XBL displaying PSN. I think was a game from Ubisoft or EA, I don't remember what was the tile of the game. But was fixed with a patch.
If I remember correctly, it was Need for Speed... EDIT: http://www.destructoid.com/... Yup, it was shift...
Exactly, also on Xbox had the same problem displaying PSN.
it only dose everything including XBL lol i dont know why in hell did this guy buy this game
Obviously this game isn't worth anyone's time Downloading it in the first place.
No wonder that McDonald's ad showed up.
Oh no! Advertisements, P2P servers, and 12 years olds!!!
aah don't send us PS3 owners to Ads land oops I mean Xbox Live.
W0o0oW...who in their right mind bought this game anyway?
i remember something like this happened on xbox 360. I think it was a game racedriver GRID. It tried to connect to PSN store. (im trying to find the article. It was on N4G somewhere..) edit: found it, it was Need for Speed Shift. http://freakbits.com/xbox-3...
lmao funny stuff. something like this happened a few month back on the xbox side. I would make a about this but I know all the sony fangurls would be mad at me so it's no use. We can only make jokes against xbox!
So true :D Xbox Live Sucks!!!! nah i joke
not to be an @$$hole about it when you tell your joke. You do that, then go for it.
quick question, who even plays that game? no offense. and no trolling please, calling people fangirls is retarted.
Hahahaha that's awesome.Nice catch
Talk about a lazy ass attempt to bring it to ps3, obviously the didnt spend a dime on bug testing.
To be fair, the studio is in court right now over the publisher not paying them for the game so for all we know, they could have put all there eggs into this basket to try to stay afloat. Speaking of which, in a interview on IGN I think the CEO of the developer said they made the PS3 version a cheap digital game because of the legal issues with the publisher.
Why play Section 8 when you can watch District 9 on blu-ray?
That makes no sense. Just because they both are synonyms followed by a number doesn't mean that they're anything alike. P.S. District 9 sucks, it only gets good reviews because it's one of the few sci-fi movies that have a budget.
I wouldn't call $30 million that big of a budget, especially compared to how much other big name sci-fi movies cost.
I thought the movie was good. I got it on bluray.
didn't this happen with one of 360 games where it would try to connect to PSN (because of its ingame store) thats funny
yes. on Need for Speed Shift.
This is actually a pretty cool game. You guys really shouldn't bash on something if you've never even played it. We all know that you guys do that too much as it is. I'd love to actually own the game, for either 360 or PS3, but I know that there wouldn't be very many players at all. People only ever play Halo and CoD, they don't bother giving other games a chance. So many great games get little attention, it's really sad. As for the article, that's pretty weird, lol. I guess they forgot to change a few things.
i have the game, its not bad but its def not good
I believe the word is mediocre. Wasn't this game supposed to be a "Haloz Clone111"?
I actually liked it a lot. It sort of has a Planet Side feel to it. I think it would make one heck of an MMO if it did some things like Planet Side. I think most people don't like the game because it requires teamwork, and most players just want to feel like they're a one man crew while playing their games. That's why things like Halo and CoD are so popular. (which I do love, by the way) The only time I hear mention of this game from players is when they whine that it takes too long to kill someone, because they're too stupid to understand how the weapons work, and never even changed their guy's load-out thing. It's sad no one ever has anything positive to say about the game. No one appreciates anything if it's not popular. harrykid32: No, not at all. Never once was this game supposed to be like Halo. That's just the kinds of things these Playstation fanboys say on these sites. This game plays absolutely nothing like Halo. The map styles are different, the gunplay is different, teamwork is a must. Like I said, it feels similar to Planet Side, if you've ever played that.
I think the reason everybody bashes it is because it's Generic as Hell. It's just another game about Power Armored Space Marines with guns that go *bang*. While this dosen't make it a bad game, it dosen't make it a good game either, it's just mediocre, bland. The one thing I did like about Section 8, was the ability to drop down into combat wherever you liked, I found it kind of refreshing than just spawning on a map, but unfortunately this wasn't enough to save it, from being a cavalcade of mediocrity. However, I do admit as far as online shooters go, it's at least functionable, which is more than I can say for a lot of the dribble that gets put out these days. ...What I'd like to know is who the hell came up with the name of the thing. Section 8 is a military term for soldiers who've gone crazy or are in need of serious psychiatric help. Did nobody think somebody wouldn't notice that, maybe the design staff needs to be "sectioned"
cool and quality aren't really one in the same. I mean I'll play the game, but it sure as hell was not worth $60 when it came out. Overall the game is mediocre. That's not saying it horrible, it's just not standing out over the rest of the games out there. Besides, there's way worse games out there.
Yeah, there was a game on the 360 where it tried to go to the playstation store a few months back too. Strange that these problems get through QA.
The PS3 version of Section 8 is a straight port from the Xbox 360 version.. .. But we obviously already knew that though, of course. :)
The market place is timed exclusive too? XD
that would be messed up
Hey Section 8! You got my PSN network mixed with your Xbox live! :P
Dont hate it because it wants to send you to a real online service =)
lmao that sucks for them
So much Section 8 hate here, the game isn't bad if you can get it for $30-40 (which is the price on PSN isn't it?) Just because a game didn't get great reviews doesn't mean it should be ignored or shunned altogether, price drops are a great way to jump in.
Yes! Section 8 is actually a great game, no matter how terrible the trailers are. And I don't understand why the game's reviews weren't so great, because the game is actually awesome...
I actually like Section 8 a lot. Its trailers were absolutely terrible, but the gameplay is just so engaging and fun IMO. I own the PS3 version, and didn't even know there was DLC available now! I must check this out. :P Section 8 runs on community-run dedicated servers, btw, on all three versions of the game. No P2P crap here.
It's just result of a very lazy port. same thing happened with MW2 and the PC. http://www.bravenewgamer.co...
I played the section 8 demo and it was awful. Nothing cool about it. I guess coming into orbit with you character was kind of cool.
Ahahahhhh come ps3 players join the xbox 360 side LOL
This happened on xbox :-) Sorry just had to be the 200th person that said it in this thread.
This happened with need for speed on x360 but it sent you to psn, does that make xbox live inferior no it does not, so kindly bots shut up.
Well, I had fun with Section 8 on PC (as it didn't come to Xbox in Asia).
i would rather watch section 9 from ghost in the shell then get Section 8 lol!
good job porting this game guys. you sent a strong message to the PS community, and they came up with this comment, WE DONT WANT YOUR TRASH UNTIL YOU MAKE A PROPER MULTIPLAT ON THE PS3. and make sure you lead on it as well.
error messages etc can be re-used though. i mean you obv need to make alterations like here but you might as well c+p a lot of the stuff rather than retyping everything. just seems it slipped past QA
i imagine clicking it will just take you to psn... just seems like QA missed that the message hadn't been changed since the 360 version
Copy/paste strikes again?
Wow, talk about lousy programming.
