The third entry in the popular Star Wars Battlefront series has flirted with an actual announcement for nearly two years now.
I hope so, crytek would make such a great game!
Well I can guarantee it is not being made by Crytek. I've been following this game since 2006 when it was learned that Free Radical started developing it. Of course there was really nothing new on it until late 2008 when Free Radical shut down. Then it was rumored that Rebellion was developing it, then Pandemic, and lately it was revealed that even Slant Six was making a Battlefront game (although this was not SWBF3). So I'd wager that its actually being developed in house by LucasArts themselves, just like Monkey Island and The Force Unleashed 2 are.
i agree i think its by in house devs as well,i hope its true i need this game like i need air
I LOVED all of the Battle Front games. I would kill for a next gen version for the PS3. Crytek would be great
The first two Battlefronts, while having some rough edges, were an absolute blast to play. If this gets announced, it's going to be a day one buy for me. That is, if they can polish it up and make it a little more diverse gameplay-wise.
If Battlefront 3, Republic Commando 2, and an exclusive Move game are announced, I will unable to speak for several days, due to being speechless.
@HOC Same, I think SWBF3 is MY most anticipated next gen game. And a next gen Republic Commando would just be drop dead sexy.
It effing better be.
A million, gazillion, billion, whatever-illion that.
Ugh, if Rebellion is working on it then it will probably be somewhere along the lines of stupid fun but mediocre. Free Radical is not working on it. Slant 6 better not be working on it. And I don't know if Lucasarts own any in-house developers that make major games. They made that point-and-click classic pirate game not long ago, but that's about all I know. If I had a choice between which Star Wars game would be made, I would choose KOTOR3 over this.
RPG fans would rather have KOTOR 3, action fans would rather have Battlefront 3. How about we hope for both?
hopefully it will if they do, please bring back maps that hold all types of vehicles just like the first. I loved using a T-fighter to take down enemy tanks.
how ironic after my earlier comment on a starwars related news post!
if its release i hope it has almost the same game feel as before, the battlefront games were just fun to play, but its not being made by the same old devs. hopefully a gameplay video is released.
*Scrolls* FAR FAR AWAY in a galaxy not so very far unlike our own In fact very alike to our own In fact it is our own 3 million people wet themselves at the news of a new Battlefront game This caused the icebergs to melt but 1 man was watching He was Obi 1. DUM DUM DE DAAA DAAAAAAA DUm DUM DE DAAAA DAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
its interesting to note though that the 360 was not listed yet the wii was listed
the reason why is because " the hackworthy program that allows him to peep behind the scenes and see the lobbies for games that are currently running through GameSpy" 360 has its own network thats why you cant see it it wouldn't use game spy, i could be wrong.but i would bet my life that its coming to the 360 lol. FOR THE FULL STORY CLICK THE LINK V http://www.battlefront3.net...
Well those lobbies I found were definitely not there back in March so that pretty much confirms that the game does exist.
I know a lot of people who will be happy that this game might be announced, but a new developer is like a whole new game. I doubt it's like it was before, probably not class based, but custom classes like the PSP versions. A larger community, which is something Star Wars Battlefront games have never had, I mean they sold well, but even when SWBF2 came out on PS2 it had less then 1500 people on it. Xbox version had more, but still not a lot compared to today's games like COD MW2 etc..So I am optimistic but not expecting great things.
