Britxbox: NIER Review

Jasper Kashap writes: "Xbox 360 owners have an increasingly diverse selection of Japanese RPGs to choose from these days. Nier, developed by Cavia and produced by RPG veterans Square Enix, takes a valiant stab at merging the traditional expectations of a JRPG with several western influences, whilst including a variety of other mechanics taken from a range of genres.

Nier is an admirable venture, there’s quite obviously a conscious ethos behind it that set out to go against the expectations of an Eastern RPG and, in many respects, Nier presents a game that successfully implements many ideas from many genres into one game. Regrettably, Nier falls short in providing an appropriately deep and involving gameplay experience, and doesn’t quite manage to capitalise on the opportunities laid out for itself."
