The waves come thick and fast during the campaign, a relentless onslaught through expansive levels ranging in aesthetic design from lush Mayan jungles with billowing grass and large stone structures to neon lit space stations, snowy peaks and castled towns. And of course, the famous dune levels are as impressive in scope as ever. The Survival mode revisits specially redesigned areas from these levels, offering the player just a single life to withstand wave after wave of enemies with no cover and limited supplies. Although the single-player survival mode is engaging enough, it’s clearly designed for gathering friends for a few minutes of hectic blasting action.
