Is the golden age of the survival horror genre over?
The words “video game” covers a very broad landscape. There are so many different types of games now, you have action, action adventure, first person shooters, third person shooters, and the list goes on. There is one genre that Explicit Gamer enjoys the most, one that has not done much of what the first word in its genre implies, survived.
Survival Horror is by far the genre that they enjoy the most in gaming. Over the past 7 years they have watched it not only decline, but become diluted and fed to us in a completely different package than what it should be.

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.

Toyohashi, Japan is set to host a large-scale Monster Hunter event to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, complete with themed hotel accommodations.
its not dead but in my opinion i do believe its slowly dying out
there really aren't many survival horror tittles as compared to last gen and most of the ones that do come out now are either jokes or really terrible
It's a shame that there are barely any TRUE survival horror games being made this generation. Especially considering how this gen's graphics would only enhance the experience. Imagine escaping from hoardes of zombies in Raccoon City (ala Resident Evil) or running from a massive T-Rex (ala Dino Crisis) in HD GRAPHICS. It would be amazing, adding a whole new level of fear to the genre.
I only hope Capcom remake RE2 and RE3 on PS3/360. It would also be pretty awesome if Tecmo end up bringing the next Fatal Frame to PS3/360, since their attempt to bring it to Wii was a debacle. (Shame it never got released over here. It was a great game).
