an American gamer meets a European gamer...an European gamer meets a Japanese gamer... maybe everything will be possible?
Interesting indeed. I say Hard to tell but that's just me.
This has been discussed before and I think the reason it is not possible is because of copyrights. While it would be a welcome addition to Home, I doubt that it will happen.
Bad enough with Europe servers cant understand 80% of the users on there! only 20% of the users speak English and is one of the main reasons I stopped using HOME they should have made an English only room for European users. It completely ruins the experience going into HOME and not being able to speak to a damn single person as they don't speak your language. Adding Jap would just make it 10X worse...
This needs to happen.
I would'nt mind talking to some american Home users, european servers are filled with germans, italians etc. So hard to find another english speaker there.
We had it on the PC since ages
HOME isn't on PC shut up and go home! (so to speak..)
"The only way to greet with a friendly "arigato" a Japanese is to create a fake Japanese account and login with this account.Too bad it's illegal and subject to Ban ..." um no its not Sony has stated several times that your allowed to create accounts for other regions. Also this is not happening they may make areas that are multi-regional but not Home as a whole. Each region already has enough strain on there servers from just there own region. While its technical possible its not exactly practical.
I find it better the way it is actually. I wouldn't want to encounter a Japanese speaking individual if I don't speak there language. If I do understand and would like to speak to them I could easily just create a Asian account and just use there Home.
*Crosses fingers* Please let this come to pass, this really is what home should have been.
I said for ages that this is a much needed change in Home (and basically in every other online environment). Gamer segregation is an absolutely idiotic thing.
having a bunch of effers that dont speak youre language is a no no
Most people can speak english anyway. And if they don't, you can just ignore them you know? Or learn some languages. It won't hurt you. The internet is an international place, if you wanna play only with your close buddies you can get a ball and go play in the backyard :D
your right there Hotel_Moscow I tend to leave games like MAG when I cant understand people and there I pretty much know what they mean because of the way the game is setup. In Home however there is no central focus so a bunch of random talk I don't understand will push me away from using Home. Now I wouldn't mind the option to go to other Home regions but just throwing everyone together will cause many people to stop using Home.
I totally disagree. I hate logging into UC2 online and hearing a bunch of people speaking languages I can't understand.
...my head over Home. I have tried it on and off since the beta was released and I'm still struggling to see the point. It all seems to be nothing but a bunch of jerks dancing and trying to chat up anything that looks remotely female whilst walking around one big virtual ad.
Don't worry, you're right. That's exactly what it is. Pointless as hell. I never even use it after the first time booting it up.
Perfect description. bubble for you.
it could b good, I guess...but I could really careless about talking to someone from Japan who I don't understand. As far as I know, if ya wanna talk 2 english ppl on Home, make an American acct., same with Japan..ect. I juss wish Sony incorporates some kinda Media Sharing with Friends, allowing us to view our media from within Home off the HDD...I didn't really understand the Trophy Room deal, but it sounds kewl, so give us that...and bring back Public Chat...while I type 54wpm, it would b easier to juss voice chat. I know, u can Phone a Friend, go 2 your personal space n voice chat with a handful of ppl, but when I go to a public area it would b kewl to juss hear a conversation... I also wanna use my Home Avatar as my PSN's Avatar, I don't know y Sony....uhhh nevermind...m speaking 2 much lmao..here's hoping for an outstanding E3! Game on!
Listen...Home is Sony's Community. Fellow PS3 gamers go there for (Socialization). It's 1 thing to go to the PSN Store and view a video right? Then it's another when u can get on Home, go to the theatre, view that same video or another...and discuss it with others in a virtual world. For some ppl, this is a big deal. Talking to a friend from the XMB as opposed to talking to someone within Home differs. If u don't know the point of Home by now, then obviously it's not for u...it caters to a different crowd. Game on!
It would be interesting if it did. If you don't like home, don't go on home!
Man I haven't been on HOME in over a year. Until I read this article I forgot it even existed. That is the god honest truth. Even the most hardcore Ps3 fanboys never mention HOME anymore.
Home was never about fanboys wars ..besides home is a success ( it makes moeny and it's expanding ) so fanboys have nothing to say even the copies ( m$ game room haven't reach the success so far home has ) Each HOME game is full and the leaderboard are very competitive ( check it for yourself if you don't believe me )
If you like social gaming, meeting new people, exploring all the area's, games, and other free fun, enjoy it. If you don't...don't bother, but to say "hardcore PS3 fanboys never mention Home anymore"...Was it ever made for them? Beta's all focused on interaction, easier chatting, community functions, clubhouses, party-games, etc. Hardcore gamers can have a hell of alot of fun joining in whatever game is being played by the community, or organize their own, but Home is great for so much more. Enjoy what you want from Home...ignore what you want...but millions that use it all the time haven't forgotten it exists, and know it's getting better all the time.
How can u not know it still existed? It's on ya XMB everytime u boot up ya PS3 guy!! I hope that wasn't an attempt at sarcasm...because it was a really bad 1. Home isn't going anywhere. Believe it or not, Home is on a constant uprise. After all the updates u still get the occasional Freezes, due to the amount of ppl that visit. It's not seriously problematic, but it does goes to show Home Works for Gamers, ya gotta give credit where credit is due. I can't say tha same for 1 vs. 100, Life With Playstation & Game Room, but that's another conversation...anyway.. Game on!
actually life with playstation is really [email protected] app with something else to look at.But I do believe other regions have more channels then US.So really it cant fail as long as people still want to help by donating CPU power.
but why can't I simply type in my zip code for personalized information displayed in Life With Playstation? I can if I stop, click a headline and then type my zip code in, but can't enter my location on the map, or save the zip code for personal weather & news. This really reduces the usability of this app...for such a tiny tiny addition to the code. I can view all my news, weather and local info, but the program won't remember my location or local postal code and default to it? What is that...all of a single line of code? It reminds me of an ambitious project that somehow got derailed in red tape, a bad committee of other nonsense. Home on the other hand is constantly updated, and a new experience every time you're there, with great community response from everyone keeping Home original and updated. Home Works, Home's fun, Home's improving, Home's here to stay. Home has defintiely accomplished most of it's goals, so I can't see how it could become anything but better.
Content is region restricted, layout of the hubs/central plazas are different, would be nice to see, but I just can't.
it can work. make an independent zone seperate from US,EU and JP home. think of it as an International free zone in an airport.
Who's using that crap anyway? It will never be back on my hard drive, what a waste of space...
Make this Social Network sand-box instead of the stupid loading times....and u got urself an interesting project
This would be a great addition! :)
If they could build in some kind of automated voice and text translator by region IMO.
