@SasanovaS1987 : Alan wake isn't a "hardly average" game, its got 7-10 ratings which is certainly NOT average.

have you even played it? How could you possibly then say that it is the biggest disappointment of all time? Unless you think getting 7/10 is a disappointing score.

While the game didn't live up to its hype (mostly caused by the 360 fanboys), its certainly no average game.

...AW is a MASTERPIECE of video game design...Story, Cinematics ( in engine ) and graphics...with one of the best presentations ever...Enlighten yourselves....ONLY on the 360...May 18th...

The real killer2650d ago (Edited 2650d ago )

My opinion is no, it's not a masterpiece it's a average game.
I allready play this game, very nice atmosphere that's all.

Grafichs, not possible to see in those dark atmosphere, when you are in daylicht really bad compared with Mass Effect grafichs.

I knew they cover the grafichs with 540p with dark atmosphere settings, but the game self is good and good story telling nothing more.

rezzah2649d ago

The next masterpeice that we will all see is going to be The Guardian.

sGIBMBR2650d ago

84 on Meta? Average ratings of 7? This game is no where near average

Anyway, to all the fanboys out there hating on this game, I don't give a damn what the reviews say. Honestly, this game is amazing, totally different to anything I've ever played. This game is up there with the rest of my favs this year. (Mass Effect 2 and HeavyRain)

DelbertGrady2650d ago

And let me tell you, after reading reviews I expected it to be good but flawed. I was blown away. It's probably the best horror game ever made. I wasn't expecting it to be THAT scary. It makes Dead Space seem like Mario Bros. If you're more effected by psychological horror than blood & gore, like I am.

Some reviewers said that the enemies are monotonous. While that's true to a certain extent you fight everything from the creepy shadow figures to birds and things in the environment. What matters though is that the enemy AI is extremely well programmed. You never feel like you can learn the enemies as quickly becomes the case in most other horror games. This leads to every battle feeling unique, which keeps the adrenaline pumping. And since the environment itself is an enemy you can never fully relax. At one point when all was quiet a train coach fell down 3 feet in front of me. Almost fell out of the couch.

Not going to rant anymore but I advice anyone with a 360 to at least, if not a buy, give it a rent. You won't be disappointed.

"Not going to rant anymore but I advice anyone with a 360 to at least, if not a buy, give it a rent. You won't be disappointed."

Thats quite a bold statement seeing as their are shitloads of people saying that they find it disappointing.

Cevapi882650d ago

uhhh you shouldnt be calling it a horror game when its rated teen and there is no blood or gore....the game is a psychological thriller....but they went for the T rating to get a bigger audience buying their game

hamoor2650d ago

84 in meta is great score
And to be honest, many of games that got 80s in meta are better than some everrated 90s games like mw2 and bayoneta
Dead space
Assassin creed
Heavy rain
Etc. All of them are great games though they got 80s in meta

NeoBasch2650d ago

Some people are going to totally misinterpret your comment. I know I did at first. I think GTA IV would be a better example though. Games like Bayonetta, Dead Space, Assassin's Creed, and Heavy Rain are infinitely better than GTA IV. Never trust MetaCritic. Critics are generally way off. They've only been right on a select few games.

huzzaahh2649d ago

@BaschPS3

The critics aren't "way off". Just because they have different opinions than you, doesn't mean they're wrong. I personally enjoyed GTA IV, and I think that Bayonetta is a piece of garbage. I obviously have different views than you, so am I "wrong"?

Montrealien2650d ago (Edited 2650d ago )

Hey real killer, your opinion matters. True story.

But seriously man, why be hell bent on telling people that you think its an average game, not everyone will agree with you, and you have to let people make up their own opinion. and I mean how do you manage to say..

" game itself is good and good story telling, nothing more."

in a negative way?

hay2649d ago

Story is good, but nowhere close to awesomeness. Master storyteller? Good one.

GWAVE2649d ago

And yet some people said "ho ho! Heavy Rain doesn't have a 98/100 average, so fail!"

y does an article about a 360 exclusive turn into ps3 flamebait? Y?

masterofpwnage2650d ago (Edited 2650d ago )

and why the 360 gamers always whine about it.
you dont see ps3 fans whining about it.

on topic
well i never played it so i guess i cant say anything. I will probably buy it for my cousin so i can play it to.

@cez rage
at what a game that average a 8.
360 fanboys hyped it up to be a ps3 killer, a AAA game, best graphics, goty, but look what happen.

its just karma for 360fanboys for making fun of every ps3 exclusive that got 7s and 8s. Just look at whiteknight and mag.

Arnon2650d ago (Edited 2650d ago )

"Just look at whiteknight and mag."

Alan Wake N4G Scores:

10/10 - 15 scores
9+/10 - 74 scores
8+/10 - 58 scores
7+/10 - 15 scores
6+/10 - 8 scores

White Knight Chronicles N4G Scores:

10/10 - 0 scores
9+/10 - 1 scores
8+/10 - 12 scores
7+/10 - 17 scores
6+/10 - 11 scores
5+/10 - 7 scores
4+/10 - 1 scores

M.A.G. N4G Scores:

10/10 - 3 scores
9+/10 - 10 scores
8+/10 - 81 scores
7+/10 - 54 scores
6+/10 - 10 scores
5+/10 - 0 scores
4+/10 - 1 scores

It's pretty obvious as to why White Knight Chronicles and MAG were made fun of. Alan Wake however, is far beyond these two games. Alan Wake has more 9's and 10's combined than 6's, 7's and 8's combined.

Nolando2649d ago (Edited 2649d ago )

its out of those games league, people seem to focus on few reviews that were below 8 when most of the reviews are 8-9.5...

but its more convenient to forget all the praise the game gets and focus on the 7 from EDGE magazine...

R_aVe_N2649d ago (Edited 2649d ago )

The problem is to many people rely on review scores and don't have an opinion for themselves. The only thing that matter are the people that buy these games. The opinion's of those people matter a lot more than people that get free games and get paid to review them. So to me none of those reviews mean jack!

Nolando2649d ago

i agree with you, i am buying this game regardless if its a 7 or not from some reviewer, i know that this game will be enjoyable for me... but since we are here at N4G it bugs me how people choose only the negative reviews and act as if its the whole consensus of the medias opinion.

It goes vice-versa, it's a strange phenomenon..

Inside_out2650d ago (Edited 2650d ago )

...Can you blame them...AW is INCREDIBLE...May 18...Alan AWAKEs on a 360 near YOU....

R_aVe_N2650d ago

I am currently playing it now at a friends house. I am not understanding why people are liking this game so much. It does seem to be an average game. The story is good but the game itself is really lacking. I would definately rent it just for the story if you own a 360. I would not waste money on buying it though.
