Not bad, not bad at all. 600mb is nothing compared to GTA4 3GB or so.

Small size in my point of view.

But is good to install. Less loading times, less time reading disc etc.

Final_Rpg2836d ago

I love my 500 gb internal hdd, news like this doesn't even faze me anymore.

Croaker2836d ago

Indeed. I've got a 300gb in my own PS3. No sweat.

NCAzrael2836d ago

Yeah, it's so nice of Sony to make it extremely painless to upgrade the hard drive. I was more than a little pissed when I first discovered that I'd have to pay an outrageous amount for a 120GB hard drive for my 360 when I could get a 500GB HDD for the same amount for my PS3. Granted, I believe there is a way to modify the casing that the 360 HDDs come in so you can add your own, but I'm not sure they still work after the update that disabled non-licensed media. And even if they do, it's a pain to modify from what I hear.

jessupj2836d ago

Not 5 minutes ago I just installed a new 500gb hdd for my ps3. I'm loving it.

Neo6042836d ago

I think 320gb is plenty. It's always good to delete junk.

SWORDF1SH2836d ago

If not 5 minutes ago then when did you install it. 10 minutes? yesterday? last week? I Need To Know!

j/k :)

Shane Kim2836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

I still have that 60 GB of space and I'm still good.

Kerrby2835d ago

I have 40GB and I'm about to top myself.

RageAgainstTheMShine2835d ago (Edited 2835d ago )

very nice

Finally Rockstar love for the PS3!

Blood is thicker than water, I guess.

Legosz2835d ago

Can you get those in a store or something? I am fine with my 120GB but it is always nice to upgrade, I could put videos or music on it aswell and not just games.

inveni02835d ago

Do you mean get the hard drives in a store? If so, then the answer is Yes. All it needs is a 2.5" hard drive. You can get those practically anywhere.

On another note, I think it's great that you can upgrade your PS3 hard drive, but I always fill mine up before I think about upgrading. Then, I don't have anywhere to store the backup (all my external HDD drives on my comp are formatted to the wrong file system).

duplissi2835d ago

with my 500 i have almost 300 gbs left i have a hard time filling it..

ALFAxD_CENTAURO2835d ago (Edited 2835d ago )

Exclusive Content for PS3 + Very small space for HDD.

That's all you need I think.

Yeah, mandatory instals are a non-issue. Funny how the headline tries to make it a big deal.

P.S Who cares what version people are getting, stop the fanboy cr*p (aimed at people below).

HolyOrangeCows2836d ago

Then with the free extra content, it's no contest. Ps3 version it is.

zoks3102836d ago

Cry all you want, but we PS3 owners dont worry about space because we have plenty of space, and if we run out of local space the PS3 allows us to use other and even cheaper portable memory storage devices that is all ready on the market. We can even upgrade our non propitiatory HDD.

DORMIN2836d ago

"PS3 gamers running low on hard drive space.."
Upgraded my HDD to 320GB a while back for the price of $50.

600MB is nothing.

ludabenza2836d ago

Yep it's extremely modest considering the type of game it is. I also wonder how much space it takes on the PS3.

agentace2836d ago

lol is that a joke, my fallout3 saves take more space than that(about 10-15mb each got like 100+ saves)
I think i best upgrade my 500gb hdd 600mb is alot..............

raztad2836d ago

"PS3 gamers running low on hard drive space may want to do some cleaning up"

When I read that I though, oh shaiit game is gonna have a 5+G install.

600M? really? my demos are twice o triple that size.

Alvadr2836d ago

Im thinking about swapping out my old 60gb HDD but im concerned that my saves wont carry over, or I cannot gain any new trophies working from my previous saves?

Can anyone confirm?

This worries me as I still have work to do in FFXIII and I dont want to loose progress on a game Ive sank 90+hours into.

CrazedFiend2836d ago

Your saves and everything WILL carry over, because you'll do a full system backup before you swap out. Make sure however that you have a separate drive with enough free space on it to do your backup before you begin.

BigPappaPump2835d ago

2 games that can't be copied and carried over so far are killzone 2 and dante's inferno. if you own them, platinum those two first before you swap drives. not copying certain files suck.

Alvadr2835d ago (Edited 2835d ago )

Thanks for that, il gonna pick up a nice 400GB in the week plus a smaller external for back ups.

I do own KZ2 but not too fussed about that save not getting carried over. More worried out my big RPG games.

When i scroll down my saves at high speed it takes 10-15seconds to reach the end of the list.. Scary when you consider the speed!!!

duplissi2835d ago

big papa is completely WRONG

i have killzone and i upgraded to a 500 in december and somehow those saves managed to make their way onto my new drive....

oh and bigpappa there is a built in backup and restore utility, and if you use that you will not loose any saves as long as you restore to the same playstation, but if you just stick a flash drive in and try to copy those saves that way... well thats a no go.

DaTruth2835d ago

Does anyone know if the attachment fans are good enough to sustain the system because it overheats in 10 seconds? My fan isn't operating and I just need enough time to transfer my data from one PS3 to the next, but I don't want to buy one if it won't work!

PM me please!

inveni02835d ago

If it's not under warranty, then open it up. I'm not sure what the inside looks like, but if the fan is just on the housing, then opening the case and putting a box fan there should do the trick. If the fan is on a chip, though, that won't work.

duplissi2835d ago

uh yeah its a hell of alot more complicated then that....

antt32835d ago

600mb? Pffft. That's nothing. I've downloaded demos bigger than that.

Speaking of, if you're looking to clear up some space, deleting demos is a great way to do it. If you're like me, and you let them build up, it adds up to a good 5-10 GB by time you delete them all. Insane.

wicko2835d ago

Honestly I always choose the optional installs if they are available. Valkyria Chronicles, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Resonance of Fate all have optional. Would be nice if all games had optional installs because then we'd hear less whining :)

But yeah just like a lot of other people, I have upgraded my harddrive. Swapped out the 160GB i had for a 320. The 160 makes for a nice small external drive.

also i would like to add im glad that the game is 720p, sadly i have been hearing rumors it was sub-hd on the ps3, well i guess we can all stop speculating, proof is in the pudding. go to the website. red dead ftmfw!

CernaML2836d ago

Just because it says 720p on the back of the box doesn't mean it renders at a native resolution of 720p. Still hoping San Diego did a better job than Rockstar North though.

inveni02835d ago

There's no reason it shouldn't run at 720p on PS3. GTA4 came out a (relatively) long time ago, and if they can't beef up the PS3 version of that engine by now, then they're just being lazy.

Acquiesc32836d ago

A little over half a gig isn't too bad at all.
