If you ask vintage gamers, such as myself, about their fondest childhood memories they’re likely to tell you about their first brush with Inky, Pinky, Blinky, and Clyde. It’s possible they could tell you about topping the Asteroids scoreboard. They may even regale you with the tale of how Battle Zone helped them to ace their freshman year music appreciation class.
The Appera: This game is self-described as a filler game, and for the main, most popular gameplay mode, (aptly named “Filler”) is just that, and it is done remarkably well. But it also contains numerous other gameplay modes, each with their own unique quirks and capabilities. This is all done with marvelous graphics that are very retro, with shining neon, making the game all the better.
GDN writes: "The object of The Glowing Void, from Assyria Game Studio, is to fill the darkness with light. Well, it is in one game mode anyway. In the others it varies slightly. I have to say that I was quite pleasantly surprised with this title."
The Glowing Void by Assyria Game Studio is an interesting spin on the classic arcade game Qix with players being tasked to fill the screen as much as possible while avoiding deadly bouncing balls. It's a basic premise that's given a great twist by allowing players to also flip their iPhone to change the gravity, potentially trapping the bouncing balls for bigger bonuses.
