Sony Pictures Picks Up Rights to Rollercoaster Tycoon

Reuters is reporting that Sony Pictures Animation plans on creating a movie based on the popular Rollercoaster Tycoon PC game. Created in 1999 by Chris Sawyer, the series has spawned over $300 million in sales and multiple sequels and expansions. It seems like Hollywood is trying to get into the tycoon business of making rather ‘odd’ video games as adaptation material, lately. Rollercoaster Tycoon joins a long line of games that have been adapted into movies, movies that no one thought possible as source material. (Industry, PC, Roller Coaster Tycoon)

WHAT!?! A movie based on a game about building and maintaining the profitability of a park? Worst idea yet.

Lol yeh I agree, the game was a lot of fun, but I can't see how the movie would work.
