it should not come as a surprise. The same was done with the other redesigns PS1(PSx) PS2Slim(PS2). Once the PSP is out the Slim version will take its place.
This a no shocker, it makes sense anyway, and for the person who disagrees I guess Sony is still making the orignal PS2 right?
EDIT: I was using sarcasm hello! The person kept disagreeing because of the fact sony was going to phase out the original PSP, when they are going to phase it out to replace with the slim ones.
Its great that they are offering the slim this september for 169, but I would have liked to see them put the ice silver and the white PSP as a core pack as well rather then a bundle, but I guess i'll have to stick with the piano black PSP.
even though they cant compete with the DS, they can continue to grow the install base. by the end of the psps life, its install base will be at about 50 million, while the DS, well you know, its going to reach the unreachable stars (yea, approx 120+ million). SOny will already have the experience in the portable market, and I will expect them to do better than the DS with different mode of gaming instead of ports, although, Ninty can make that future 100+ million DS install base migrate to the DS 2.
Why would they continue to manufacture the old one? And why would people be upset if someone says they are stopping production of the old model? It's only natural. They didn't continue to manufacture the fat PS2 when they introduced the slim version. Or the original PlayStation when they introduced the smaller version.
Sorry people
is this site authentic? just wondering.
I'm getting a slim one.
Why is this news?
Why are people questioning this asking for sources?
Isn't it obvious that the old model is getting dropped?
Have we become so irrational that we are now expecting multiple SKUs for everything?
The PSP has been REDESIGNED, REPLACED by a slimmer version. Done.
@Robot....It's all good.
