Nintendo has responded back by saying that this price cut is unlikely to affect the sales of their Nintendo Wii console.Nintendo President Satoru Iwata further confirmed in a statement that the hardware side of its Wii game console business has turned profitable. This is impressive considering both Sony and Microsoft continues to make huge losses on sales of their console units...

that nintendo is taking the arrogant approach like sony did when they were doing well. i guess its expected.

ReconHope3630d ago

i would do the same after coming from gamecube.

sony doesnt even see them as direct competition. they wont loose sale because of the wii. the wii sells to a different market.

ReconHope3630d ago

i think they established that. different demographic, they are catering to casual gamers.

i hope NINTENDO, understands what the WII is.

i`m not joking when i say this......

EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW WHO HAS A WII (10), HAS EITHER GOTTEN RID OF IT OR DOESNT PLAY IT AT ALL AND WISH THEY NEVER BOUGHT IT.

sorry NINTENDO the WII magic is already fading.
i give N the rest of the year and then there will be a massive decline in sale.

the for all these periferals.
THE POWER GLOVE, POWER PAD, VIRTUA BOY didn`t work.
i cant imagine this will be any different.

@thelonegunman
thats what i`m saying.

w/ ps3 and even 360, people will start playing it more.
w/ the wii, people start playing it less.

unless do some REVOLUTIONARY INNOVATIONS w/ that wiimote, I don`t think i has a chance when these systems get cheaper(over the next year or two)

bubble.

My brother has the Wii. He rarely plays it. He has Wii Sports, Red Steel and Twilight Princess. I haven't seen him touch TP in about a month, the same with Red Steel, though he may play Wii Sports when a friend comes over. He much rather play the Sims on PC. I myself, on the otherhand, haved used my PS3(which I got on the very same day he got the Wii(March the 23rd, when it came out here in Ireland) about every day since school ended for the summer.

They do seem a bit arrogant. But then again, Sony just did a price cut and then almost as an afterthought told us that it was temporary and Microsoft assumed that covering all of their upcoming hardware in shiny green would sell them.

And as you said, it's been quite a while since Nintendo's had anything to be arrogant about...

And I know that there are going to be a whole lot of Sony fanboys in here that don't agree with what Iwata is saying, but I think (in the short run) he's probably right. For the Nintendo Wii thus far it hasn't been even a little about the games, people are buying it like crack just because it has a low price and a new idea. The games have kinda sucked, so when some good software comes in (MP3, SMG, SSBB) people will actually have a solid reason to buy a Wii, and then even the people around here dissing it might find themselves playing Brawl in a couple months.

I do expect great things from the the PS3, don't get me wrong. But people are cheap. That's pretty much why they haven't bought too many PS3s so far. KZ2, MGS4, LBP- probably some of the greatest games that have ever been made. But they're all coming out '08.
