"Achievements eh? Pretty great, are they not? They simultanously extend the value of your games and extend the value of your e-peen, and when designed right they're big-time fun-times to boot."
Those are just sick. Do game developers really expect gamers to be devoted at such a level to their games or do they just want to make sure there's that one trophy that only the most devoted will get?
They are optional, but they do keep you from completion. The hardest one I ran into was Killzone 2's online trophy where you have to place in the TOP 1% of the whole world for a given week (or something like that). I don't even bother with it but it pisses me off because it otherwise seems like an easy platinum trophy. LBP's "Play" trophy (play every level without dying once) is also hard with the controls and physics throwing you off balance, but I think I can get that with a little patience
The weekly top 1% for Killzone 2 wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Played body count at Radec Academy for about 3 hours a day for the week and got it. Think I even skipped a day. I was usually in the top 3 in each match, though.
@Alpha Male I think I got that once, and it never happened again. If you play it enough and your pretty good, it's really not as hard as you think. I think UT3 had a trophy where you had to play everyday for 50 days straight. Cmon, that's just stupid and unrealistic. On top of that, trophies were added way after the game released.
It took me about 120 hours of playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 to get all trophies / achievements. Beat Zirco and Zone Zeus are sick as well.
Dead Rising sure had some crazy achievements. I had 49 survivors once. ONE short of the "Saint" (I THINK that's what it was called) achievement. I didn't get the 7 day or even the 5 day. I got the 3 day, though. Imagine spending 14 straight hours trying to get one achievement. I think my eyes would start bleeding from staring at the screen.
I just wish we could turn off Gamer Score or Trophies... the I have a bigger **** then you aspect is just plainly stupid.
I like my trophies for personal tracking. Also, I tend to offer up any free codes I get that I don't want to people with a certain trophy level to make sure I'm not just giving it to any person who likely won't use the code. I don't use it otherwise.
'You have to play the game, connected to Xbox Live, at least once a day for 100 days' even with a game I like that could be a problem 0.o
it's to prevent you from trading th egame in :)
I have a friend that has nearly every FFXI achievement. I tried the dead rising one and gave up.
I would definitely have added some Warhawk trophies. Oh wait, this is an achievement list. -_____-
just reading it sucks
Stupid achievements... there are ot lot like that, on 360 or ps3...
For ps3 some of the trophies for wipeout hd or Pain are very hard to get.
7 Day Survivor isn't that bad, I almost had it at Day 5 until I went into the food court and the game froze, it's a glitch with the game that if you go into the food court after day 4 then it will freeze everytime, I didn't know that of course. I might try it again before DR2 releases, but the harder DR achievement is getting 50 survivors to safety, that is impossible for me.
Bomberman: Act Zero is an awful game... but if you are ever in need of some gamerscore, finishing the game's 99 levels, without saving... is actually easier than you think. If you make it to lvl 20, you can make it to lvl 99
I have all 1000 Dead Rising achievements. I loved the game. The 7 day achievement actually takes like 4 days to get.
Trials HD is pure sadism even without achievements involved. Rewarding...sadism. Splosion Man and Gears 2 have some sick achievements as well.
Warlord, and soldier of misfortune are ridiculous....i had the game nearly 2 years and still didn't get those. Lets just say, playing fc2 2 hours a day every day for 2 years isn't enough to get those 2 Achievements/trophies. (BEING LITTORAL)
If they didn't call them achievements I would attempt them. Everytime I consider spending hours on a video game instead of working or reading and calling it an achievement I feel absolutely ridiculous.
