Molyneux: no death in Fable 2, but scars

After sampling the delights of Fable 2 (more on that soon) Joystiq had a little chat with Peter Molyneux about death. Specifically, Joystiq talked about how death would be treated in Fable 2.

Typically, death in video games means loading the previous checkpoint or restarting a given level. According to Molyneux, such will not be the case in Fable 2. Instead, when overpowered and bested by an enemy, players will be left with a permanent reminder of their defeat: a scar. Granted, the scars are cosmetic, but they do affect how NPCs perceive the main character.

I'm really looking forward to Fable 2, but I think Molyneux is a loon.

The whole loosing attributes bc of dying is kinda neat I suppose.

I agree Blood, I'm looking forward to Fable 2 aswell. I loved the first one, and since I wasn't into Xbox at the time, I was spared of the destructive hype that hurt Fable :). This game is definately top on my wishlist of games for the 360.

The idea seems cool but a lot of players will reload before the beating unless a tighter save system is revealed.
But still, cool idea.

I'm very interested in this game. It seems very innovative, Peter M. seems to be a talented developer, I thought Fable 1 was great despite the negative press it got. Looking forward to this one come 2008.
