IGN: Rare has created one of the premier launch titles for 'Project Natal' and the challenges faced regarding the new design philosophy at the studio. He warns: "Everything you've learnt over the last 25 years – throw it away!"
Dont tease us by putting Conquer next to the rare sign. -_- lmao.
M$ has finally given them the tools to do what Rare does best, and that they are truly excited. I am eager to see what rare did with Natal on their first attempt.
I want Conquer 2 :( ON topic - Let's hope they don't disappoint, they really didn't win me over with Banjo but Perfect Dark Zero was good, i guess.
Lol I don't know what game it is you guys want but CONKER would be great.
Natal is gonna be huge....This is what Rare is about...family/casual gaming...E3 should hold some surprises.... Ignorant fanboys....scared fellas...you should be....Voice activating/recognition with controller less operation...like something out of star trek....DAMN...if they can keep the price down...wow, they're the only game in town...Every kid out there is gonna want to talk to Milo, a game that will be available at launch.... What's the PS3 Move got???...ping pong....tennis...what???...it has NOTHING...Socom...lol...nobody is gonna keep their arms in the air to play a shooter....DUH....MOVE is a complete rip off of the Wii...you need a eye toy, then you need the 2 controllers AND then you need a PS3...how much is this gonna cost?...is there any reason for someone with a Wii to buy move and a PS3...HD is not gonna be enough, it hasn't been so far....Wii, 65+ million and counting....Sony....they just don't get it.... E3 will make or break Sony this gen....M$ sitting pretty....
I think you guys expecting a new version of an old IP will be disappointed.IMO Rare will create a brand new experience around Natal. Anyway, i cant wait to find out more about their new game.
first , if you watch the gdc psmove demo you can play shooters with the move sitting down and you hands dont need to be in the air. second , theres gonna be a bundle with the ps move the pseye and some party game for under $100,which sounds pretty reasonable. third , if this new game is just like ricochet game the plays exactly like the old ps2 pseye but with better graphics then the project natal is just like the new pseye it can also track body movement, i havent seen enough of Natal for me to think otherwise.
I find it funny that you said Playstation Move have nothing, when Natal only have Ricochet. For your information the playstation move will bring better FPS experience and will also bring strategy and dungeon crawler games to the ps3. now what can Natal do again? oh yeah eyetoy games.
good luck rare i wasnt impressed by any of your games in the last 5 yaers the last rare game that i actually liked was Conker: Live & Reloaded on the xbox thats about it from that time (2005) till now
Rare better announce something big. They have under performed for several years now.
They've met my expectations. Loved PDZ, Kameo and Banjo.
I too loved Kameo but it was a dissapointment when the game turned out nothing like there vision on Xbox. If I remember correctly it was like a musical (space channel5)and seemed way more magical.
Kameo, Banjo, and Viva Pinata were pretty good, Perfect Dark Zero was ok but the multiplayer was the real draw. They did an amazing job with Jet-Pac Refueled on XBLA, you get an entirely new game, a retro classic, multiplayer for both, etc all for only $5! I'm just guessing but maybe Rare is going to have a heavy hitter like PD2 release next year? Gears of War 3 comes out in April, not Fall like the series usually does, maybe Microsoft has something planned Fall 2011 that involves Rare?
I love how he said they have underperformed for 7 years now. I guess Mickey's Speedway USA on the game boy color and Star Fox adventures for the gamecube where their last great games. rofl. for the fun of it, and something people usually forget about Rare, is that they make a lot of games. So in the last 7 years, here is what they have released. Donkey Kong Country: Game Boy Advance Nintendo 2003 Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge: Game Boy Advance THQ 2003 Grabbed by the Ghoulies: Xbox Microsoft Game Studios 2003 Sabre Wulf: Game Boy Advance THQ 2004 Donkey Kong Country 2: Game Boy Advance Nintendo 2004 It's Mr. Pants: Game Boy Advance THQ 2004 Banjo-Pilot: Game Boy Advance THQ 2005 Conker: Live & Reloaded Xbox Microsoft Game Studios 2005 Donkey Kong Country 3: Game Boy Advance Nintendo 2005 Kameo: Elements of Power Xbox 360 Microsoft Game Studios 2005 Perfect Dark Zero: Xbox 360 Microsoft Game Studios 2005 Viva Piñata: Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows Microsoft Game Studios 2006 Diddy Kong Racing: DS Nintendo DS Nintendo 2007 Jetpac Refuelled: Xbox Live Arcade Microsoft Game Studios 2007 Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise Xbox 360 Microsoft Game Studios 2008 Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise Nintendo DS THQ 2008 Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Xbox 360 Microsoft Game Studios 2008 Banjo-Kazooie: Xbox Live Arcade Microsoft Game Studios 2008 Banjo-Tooie Xbox: Live Arcade Microsoft Game Studios 2009 Perfect Dark Xbox: Live Arcade For an under performing studio, they sure do work alot. Thats almost more games then Bungie, Naughty Dog and Insomiac combined In the same time frame.
unfortunately almost all the games from that list i was excited for when i read were on gameboy advanced. I love rare but i walways will goldeneye and perfect dark on n64 will forever be in my memory and loved all there new stuff on consoles was very poor IMO only . wait i liked diddy kong racing but im not 100% rare made those.
@Mont: ^^^Exactly. I feel kind of sorry for them. They have a wealth of great titles and yet, people say they have made nothing because it isn't a Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, or KI when in truth their best titles aren't rated M. People dismiss the games as "kiddy" and move on.
A first person Killer Instinct? Probably not. My money would be on something like Viva Pinata Party Island Natal. Which will most likely be sh!t.
Here's to hoping that Rare has managed to make something that will redeem themselves from previous games in this generation.
Well, it's most likely this will be a children's title since its coming from Rare. I'm still waiting to see a more mature Natal game.
Except if you've played any games with the eyetoy. Are these guys serious? I understand Natal improves upon the PSeye tech, but to just disregard it ever happened?
Its totally different ball game...its like comparing ford model t with ferrari.Same with move and wii...
Black and white TVs(PSeye), 3D LEDs(Natal). This is the way consumers and developers will see it. Are you lost? Why did you start flame baiting in a Natal article talking about PS eye?
Same old...same old...sound like a broken record. *sigh*
So you expect everyone to kiss Sony's behind whenever something is made for Natal? Your jealousy makes me happy!:) Thank You Sony!!!
Once again people disregard the contributions of the Sega Dreameye in the gaming space to spin things to appeal to their arguments. :(
So you guys are okay with Rare saying that natal is the first camera ever to be used for game controls? I am not trying to bash here, but rare totally neglected that they aren't the first ones to do this. They are just the first ones to massively hype the product and mass advertise. @Elven - TBH, I didn't even know about that. I will give credit where credit is due. Either way, Natal is not the first. I guess Sega was.(Thanks for the info)
I never heard of it. http://pc.watch.impress.co.... I guess when it came out I did not care or follow gaming out side my living room or Fred Meyers, the camera only being in Japan also factors in this. It looks like Sega got raped by the current big three and then had their belonging stolen.
I actually remember the dream eye and til this day think the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time. Natal definitely isn't this first camera to be used in games but Rare might be the 1st to actually implement it on a whole different level.
PS2 EyeToy < Natal = PS3 PSeye
You know its not like that...what can you do with it?Pat your virtual pet?
Natal = 2x PS3
dam secrets out!
Viva pinata: whack da mole "minigame" from the makers of "great" games such as Viva Pinata and Viva Pinata 2. Viva Pinata: whack da mole will be sold seperately from Natal for 15.99
and how can it not be tagging the prospect of "controller FREE gaming"? and voice commands, yum!
RaRe was my fav all time developer in N64 days. If you were into gaming back than you fully know what I am talking about. RaRe has become a shell of what it used to be. If you think not, you didnt game on N64 in its hay day. This is RaRes big chance to get back to what made them great. Hold off and see till than
Rare is dead. After ms bought them they died and so it will stay. Ms destroy gaming.
MS has been hyping Natal for almost a year now and at the same time shown very little if anything NEW. I think they might be painting themselves into a corner that they will not be able to get out of if what they show at E3 is just a souped up PSEYE. The PSEYE has many of the same SOFTWARE tech that Natal does and that software is running off of one of the superfast spu's. I am very curious as to what has been going on behind closed doors with the development of Natal. I really want to see something unique, fun, engaging, and challenging enough for a core gamer like me. If Rare has done that with their unannounced game then I am very excited for Natal. I do not own a 360 nor will I get one (very unlikely) but I DO want to see something compelling from Natal so that it can justify SOME of the Mt. Olympus level hype that MS has been spreading for almost a year. This E3 IMO will be the most IMPORTANT E3 for MS, Sony....and to a lesser extent Nintendo. If MS wows with Natal and shows that it truly does what those promotional videos show...then MS wins. If not...and Sony shows even more than they already have to appease both hardcore and casuals...then Sony wins. My money is on Sony, I think they have the best of both worlds, they have the camera with software technology, and they have by FAR the most accurate, responsive and precise motion control. What do you guys think?
"you need a eye toy, then you need the 2 controllers AND then you need a PS3" That made me giggle, thanks for reminding me to buy the console as well as the accessories lol. 'imagines parents buying kid move without the console'
Give us Killer Instinct 3,Conquer 2 on the Xbox 360 and not on Natal.
Rare is a joke compared to their nes and snes days all the talent went to free radical.
Free Radical pretty much sucked though. Even Second Sight and the Timesplitters games were merely "okay". Then they went broke turning out Haze (which was just AWFUL, worse than the Turok Dinosaur game even) and got bought by Crytek and given another chance. Frankly I loved Viva Pinata, and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. I liked Kameo. To go back a bit I liked Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Perfect Dark Zero had some problems but I didn't think it sucked. The rifle grabbing that people said was so cool in Mirror's Edge was in PD:0 (and PD for that matter). I don't think that Rare have done badly at all. And I don't think free Radical have done anything even remotely impressive. Just a bunch of bad, cheap looking FPS' and a medicore TPS with a telekinesis gimmick that felt like a rip off of Midway's PsiOps.
how can one move about a 3d space with no analog sticks, buttons, d-pads, or anything?
Natal is a failure Rare need to start on 007 Goldeneye Next Gen for PS3/360 that would be more better then Natal.
THANK YOU ELVEN6 someone besides me remembers the dreameye. All this stuff motion control related really started on the dreamcast from a console perspective. The dreamcast at LEAST laid the foundation. that's why sega pushed out games like samba de amigo, house of the dead, etc,. on the wii cuz they had already done it before only difference being the dreamcast peripherals were wired.
A Natal version of Killer Instinct would be nice.
