"Infinity Ward Employee Group" Files Lawsuit Against Activision Over Unpaid Royalties, Alleges Devs Held "Hostage&q

G4TV: The other shoe has now dropped.

I've obtained a copy of a lawsuit filed this morning in the Los Angeles Superior Court by 38 plaintiffs, calling themselves the "Infinity Ward Employee Group," against Activision. The Infinity Ward Employee Group (whom I'll refer to as IWEG throughout the rest of this story) alleges breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, violation of California labor code and more. The group is after a large amount of unpaid royalties.

"Activision owes my clients approximately $75 million to $125 million dollars," said Bruce Issacs, one of the IWEG's attorneys at Wyman & Issacs LLP, over the phone this afternoon. "Activision has withheld ost of the money to force many of my people to stay, some against their will, so that they would finish the delivery of Mondern Warfare 3. That is not what they wanted to do. Many of them. My clients' entitled to their money. Activision has no right to withhold their money -- our money."

HA HA HA HA HA HA LOL
there's now way you can try to swindle your way out of paying those royalties now 38 can you believe that 38

if these 38 people are still with IW at the moment then you can expect to add 38 more to the jumping ship bandwagon soon

lol I found it funny as well.

Hope they win

Well this explains why so many people are staying at Infinity Ward. Theyre REALLY are basically being held hostage waiting for the money Activision owes them. Im sure many are just gonna stay, make MW3, and hope that THEN Activision finally gives them the money they desserve.

What a pathetic company.

Lionhead2789d ago

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why people are staying.

I'd be making a call to my broker right about now! It's a great time to sell now that the stock is high, because when the value drops (and it soon will), many might consider a "no Russia" type of action.

This is starting to get interesting now lol

FamilyGuy2789d ago

I hope they get their dues without being forced to stay. If they make MW3 before collecting this money the exact same thing will happen to them with the MW3s royalties holding them there till they make part 4, 5 and so on.

Good. Activision, burn in Hell.

Cerebellum2789d ago

Stick it to the man! I love it! This will take a large chunk out of activision's (see they don't even deserve a capital letter) profit. I hope they burn, burn in hell, that is!

Imagine having to choose between millions of dollars and working for a greedy terrible publisher or leaving and sacrificing all that money... I dont blame them for staying and hoping Activision will eventually pay them.

Perkel2789d ago

lol.. i womder if anyone will now work for them.

Game developers aren't just property. Dev studio are people not name or building.

Some one needs to teach Acti a lesson, and who better then one of their own team
Hopefully they learn (which i doubt)
