of multiplatform games, I don't know but it seems like the flare of xbox live attracts me more to get the xbox version, it just feels connected all together, more well structured, more refined, achievements are better integrated, I really love my xbox live profile more than psn profile, ms nailed the feeling of "it's mine" plus multiplaform games look little better, bioshock 2 for example, xbox 360 gets majority of my play time recently but you know this my opinion it's all a matter of choice, some other guy could disagree and prefer playing online for free\trophies etc..

Personally speaking, I don't like Xbox 360. It's loud, hardware is crappy, periferials are too expensive, has games about which I mostly don't care, isn't even close to being HD, is produced by MS(which I don't like also), online play is full of bad language and kids screaming and in overall I think this console sucks.

Some of the reasons this idiot cites for not liking the PS3 is just fallacious and pure misinformation; they sound more like his fanboy excuses/justifications for why he would rather support his system of choice, the 360. They also indicate to me that he has never owned a PS3 or at least hasn't used one in a very, very long time.

For example, slow download speeds on PSN? I've downloaded huge multi-gig demos, games, and files from PSN with my decent DSL internet without any problem whatsoever, and with seemingly good speeds. I rarely get disconnected from PSN while I'm playing a game, either--yes it does happen occasionally, but it's a rare occurrence.

It's laughable that people believe XBL is the better place to play online games just because you pay for it. What's the secret to online gaming that Microsoft has cracked? I generally buy all consoles when they get released. I can honestly say I have been buying more games for my 360 than ps3. Mostly because I prefer the 360 and the live interface to the xmb (personal choice, dont hate).

PS3 has great games and yet 360 also has great games. I tried to play them equally but as others can attest to, at some point you tend to gravitate to one more than the other. For me it has been the 360. Not going to lie but I am not going to trash talk the ps3 or those who only have a ps3.

I would like it if those who only have a ps3 could show the same respect and not trash talk the 360. That is a big favor to ask but it would be nice to game in peace.

5. Umm, what is it about this subject that no one else exactly understands. The PS2 is still selling, and games still come out FOR it. This is actually a problem for Sony. We know BC is possible on the new PS3s (all it needs is a firmware update, that's been proven). Once the PS2 is retired (which should be this year if Sony is smart and kills this elephant in the room), you will see this become a totally new animal.

4. WHAT disconnects? Check your routers and your ISPs, because they prolly just suck ass. Try WPAing your connections, and get an ISP that doesn't suck.

3. I love how no one cared or even brought up that PS3s could even DO Linux UNTIL they removed it. Suddenly, EVERYONE cares and just KNEW it was in there. It wasn't in the slim PS3 models. Why didn't you notice then? 5. Backwards Compatibility - Surprisingly... my 80GB PS3 has had better BC experience than my Xbox 360, which isn't fully BC either. It's great that people want to b*tch about the lack of it, but the #1 reason it's not there is because people didn't want to pay for it.

4. Online - I have no opinion on this. I don't need a big friends list or anything and when I play online I'm not going to put on a headphone just to talk to people I'd wish would shut up. But, that's just me. If you're into online games and chatting, 360 is definitely better. But, that doesn't mean that PSN has bad online either, so I don't see how you could say you wouldn't buy one just because it's not as good. Anyone who calls PSN online capabilities crap really must not have played Gears of War 2 or MW2 on the 360. PSN is more than passable and will be the first console with MMO-capable games as well as the first game that allows 256 people in a single online game at once. 3. Removing Features: First of all, it's feature, one item has been removed. Second, Microsoft has also removed the ability to use third-party devices, which more people used than OtherOS. Both have removed features in one way or another, both did it to prevent piracy possibilities.

You get what you want out of every controller. Personally I use my PS3 70% of the time and my 360 30% of the time. Lots of games are not supported and those whose are "officially" supported just don't work good (not as good as they are doing on the original and unbreakable xbox). The BC of the 360 is crap and cant be take for an example of what it should be.

As a 360 owner, I can honestly say I have to stick with MS because of my two favorite games Gears and Halo, not only cause of the co-op but the multiplayer which have sucked the life out of me.

This gen ps3 had to establish new IP's so it really doesn't have that true system seller as of yet .... That could change with GT5 ..... But what it does have is a fine azz BLu-Ray player built in. If you do the research, it's still the best bluray player out there with wi-fi, and future proof ready for 3D.

So say what you will ..... If you want a blu Ray player, you gonna have to such it up and get a ps3 especially at the price point it's at now. If you don't see the logic, just try getting a bluray player with the specs of the blu Ray player found on the ps3 and you'll see it's the same priceas the ps3 or more.

Sony came out with Natal in a lesser form years ago, and Move was a prototype before the Wii was announced. Sony's ten year plan is a proven plan that benefits everyone in the industry. Sony has proven that with the PS1 and PS2 which is why they are the only console maker in history to not only break the 100 million units sold mark but also do it back to back.

Demon Souls and Little Big Planet look amazing, maybe I'll play them over summer break if I get a chance. Overall though these games aren't enough for me to buy a whole other system.

I use the backward compatibility on my Wii all the time, maybe 30-40% that I use it. Even though I don't use it on my 360 it's still nice to know if there's an old game for it that I want I can play it. I never owned a ps1 but there were a lot of games I wanted to play, it was a smart move by Sony to have backwards compatibility, so why take it away? Just because the PS3 offers blu ray does not make it a higher quality. It's simply a greater disk space than compared to a normal DVD. I've seen screen shots comparing the two and I really don't care about that small of a difference.

I don't understand this wifi fetish everyone has. You need a router that has wifi capability or a network of some sort to use it. My school doesn't have one so I still have to plug my system into the wall. In general I prefer to plug my devices in any, rather than open networks, I just don't trust them.

You're bringing up peripherals, really? The wireless headsets are the same price on amazon. At least the 360 has a universal port on it's controllers. If you want to type you can use the same usb keyboard on both. I hate the Idea that there's no external battery on the PS3, If I lose power on my wireless I plug it in and continue, or just grab 2AA's. Does anyone really not have AA's anymore?

My 360 RROD'd sad but true story. I had to go maybe 1-2 weeks without playing it, and it was repaired for free. It didn't affect my preference at all. I still prefer to play on the 360. I doubt there will be any games that will absolutely sell me on a PS3 but people buy it. Neither system will lose this round but it seems stupid to think one will, at least be smart enough to realize this.

1)I can see this being an issue for most people. Although I will say as an avid gamer I have not had the will to go back and play any of my ps2 titles on my ps3. There are far to many great games coming out and I hardly have time for those let alone 5 year old games. EVERY PS3 can play PSone games, and Sony never announced PS2 game downloads for the PlayStation Store. If they did that, we'd also be able to play our PS2 discs.

PlayStation Network reason is dumb. I play online all the time, across several different games, as I do on my Xbox 360, and I never lose connection or experience lag.

Updates Removing Features, I didn't feel like reading. It's OtherOS, most likely, and it's not really a big deal to me. Plus, Xbox 360 never had an OtherOS option, so this shouldn't even apply to the author.

(1) I dislike games, particularly games that approach "art". Viva la Ebert!
(2) I dislike high rez movies. They often cost more, and for me, entertainment is best when its as low budget as possible. VHS + mono sound ftw.

Buying a PS3 will cost you more money in the long run and make Sony richer by their yellow light strategy? Ya my nephew and I have gone through 8 fu@king PS3's ever since it came out and the new slim just don't solve it either! It has gone dead just like the 1st model. I do that with my ps3 as well not to mention swap the internal HDD with a Samsung 250gb. BluRay isn't really needed in this case but the ps3 is waaaay better for all of this. I can even set my own favorite clip of the movie as the icon.

It reads all my HHD's, has its own monster of an HDD on its own, plays BluRays, plays awesome games, comes with rechargable batteries in the controller, comes with wifi, media center ready, etc etc....

I own both consoles and i do prefer my ps3 since everything is wireless and the games look better. Most of my friends play Xbox 360 and i do miss the X game voice chat which i admit is probz the best feature of Xbox Live.

I own all three systems. I play MW2 online on ps3 all the time. I have not been disconnected. Still to this day I wish someone could tell me why I would ever pay for my xbox live. Both systems play games online just fine. The funny thing is XBL charges you to play online with a P2P system that uses your connection or another players connection to host the game. So why are you paying xbl. What are they giving you? Allow people to play online games on XBL with silver and take away every thing else about XBL and save that for gold and see how many accounts drop like a rock.

Points 4 and 1 are lies. PSN and XBOX Live always go as fast as my bandwidth allows, the servers on both are great, and the connection consistent. I seem to have a few more issues with NAT types on 360, but nothing too much big of a deal. Dedicated servers on the PS3s side are very awesome, and I refuse to play online games without them, but cross-game chat is cool too.

Plus, Sony innovate plenty. Bluray, 3D. They tried motion tracking control and it didn't work out for them at the time.

Point 3 and 2 are the same. He seems to be raging about OtherOS removal mostly. And of course other features COULD be removed, just like they could be on 360, and are regularly within the software industry. But in reality otherOS was only removed because less than 1% of PS3 users use it, and it was a liability for Sony.

This article is full of well though out, valid points, that just about any gamer could raise about Sony and the PS3. It articulates my thoughts on the company since the PS3 was released and why I turned from a loyal Sony customer for years with the PS1 and PS2 to having no interest at all in purchasing the PS3.

It's sad to see so many people writing this off as another rant by a "fanboy" simply because the article is published on a site called Planet Xbox 360. I'm sure most of these critics haven't even read the article at all.

Buying a PS3 did the opposite for me, I was a die hard Nintendo fan ever since the age of 5 starting with the NES. I bought a PS3 for bluray and I was hooked from the start, my collection is 50+ games, not counting PSN downloads.

2: half ass war of piracy (sony) vs. NO ass war on piracy (MS) i think this guy is for piracy cause obviously he's encouraging making backups of your games, with an UNHACKED 360, u CANT play back up games anyway, so why is this guy trying to say that the average consumer will be ripping a 360 game in the first place? and wasn't 99% of all the games on the market today fits on 1 dual layer disc for the 360? wasnt the dl disc only supported up to 8-10 gbs? so wasnt the ps3 games are ALSO in 8-10 gbs cause obviously the 360 gimp up all the games for the ps3 (look at ff13), so if an "average" consumer, who knows how to use a dual layer dvd drive, and is able to rip 10gb, then he should be able to rip off a 10gb game from a bluray disc.
1: ok, so what about 360 following what the eyetoy did and made it a lot better, in theory. and what about the 360 copying the MII? yah did anyone remember those "avatar?" and what about that one movie that copy the name of the 360's loveable little digital human pet? sure ps3 copy the wiimote, but the ps3 works completely backward, and look like a dildo! can be used as a dildo! can the natal pleasure a non gamer?! but for real, EVERYONE will copy the winner, which is the wii right now, so they can get more consumers, it's bussiness, it's not like nintendo has a patent on motion control, so why not copy the "motion control" nothing wrong with it. btw ps3 DID copy nintendo's mii, just wanna throw that in there. the 360 AND the ps3 are BOTH followers.

the ps3 10 year plan looks pretty promising, considering the ps3 is twice as power in processing power as the 360, if anything, the ps3 will be at least double the lifetime of the 360, which in respect, of all consoles from then till now, was 5 years.

1.) Lack of Backwards Compatibility.
(You can find an original PS3 if you look hard enough or you can pick up a PS2 for $99.)

2.) Playstation Network
(Free Online gaming is still a great thing. While Xbox fan boys don't want to admit there's only 3 features 360 has left that PS3 doesn't and that's cross game invites, voice messaging, and private chat. Not very much to justify spending $50/year on XBL when PSN isn't that far behind.)

3.) Removing Features
(Sony removed Linux to avoid hackers trying to hack their console. Microsoft or Nintendo would of done the same thing if it were their own console being hacked and you guys know it.)

4.) Half-Ass War on Piracy
(Seems people forgot about all those modded Xbox and Wii consoles out there. I swear almost every big game now I hear is already pirated on Xbox 360/PC. Strange don't hear about any of those things on PS3. Nothing is protected from piracy. Hackers will always find a way to get in no matter what protection you use. Only thing companies can do is enhance their protection or try to stop hackers all in general if they can from pirating and hacking their product through other means.)

5.) Following instead of leading.
(Right. PS3 the first console to have built in Wi-Fi, Blu-ray, free online gaming, and has a built in web browser. PSP first handheld to be in HD and also the PSP Go is the first platform to be an all digital handheld. PS2 first console to have DVD. PS1 first console to have a disc format besides cartridge which is CD.)

Case in point all of your reasons for hating the PS3 have just been debunked.

a.the suggestion that Sony just copy....from a 360 owner.MS have tried to copy Sony since they launched a console.If Move is a Wii copy(even though I've seen tech demo using the coloured ball tech back in the early days of Eyetoy 1 then Natal is an Eyetoy copy.Both improve on what they are copying but still are very similar.

b.Disconnect problems.I've played a lot more on PSN than Live(I've cancelled my Live subs)but still I've had more disconnects on Crackdown/Gears of war in co op than my entire time on PSN and lets consider that Live is the only service that failed to work properly....for 2 WEEKS one Xmas.

HD Movies, Free Online, No need for a wireless adapter, How may games do the 360 play via Backward Compatbilty, and how many use it? The failure of HDDVD and the costs of the drive ... these add up to more than the Price of a PS3.

5. you say no backwards compatibility. Then keep your ps2, problem solved. You write it as if once you buy a ps3, ps2 games will vanish from the earth.

4. you say PSN disconnects and other stuff. well, as easily proven, psn works like a charm, if you have problems it's you're internet. I am online all the time on rock band, blazblue, call of duty, borderlands now street fighter again and have no connection problems. Another thing you said was alot of the ps store content is stuff on disc from like a year ago, ummm, could you find me those discs. Everything on psn is pretty much NOT on disc.

3. you know what, no i'm gonna stop right here. this is dumb. feature removing updates huh? just had to put that "s" there. THere's only been one and it's becaus of major security concerns, and yes they warn you out the asshole before you do it. IT stops you and says "this will remove the other os feature"

The PS3 has come along way since launch. Killzone 2 was my system seller. I hate to be rude, but to me that game is not good. FPS are the main games I play (but not the only I play). I have to have a FPS with killer online on a console that I get. I tried RPGs, JRPG, hack and slash, but they don't do it for me.

his right about the BC. i really wish that stayed a feature. It sucks having to change the AV cords to play Pro Evo, tekken 5, resident evil 4. shadow. okami. i play those games and enjoy it. my ps3 games not so much. i get a kick out of fallout and lbp, but demon souls and ninja gaiden games were not that fulfilling or even fun for that matter. Uncharted multiplayer has the worst lag, killzone... well thats another story. i am addicted to that.

PSN muted stlye puts me off. Browsing the internet is slow, and still not sure why i need to quit a game to browse. The piracy and move thing, well i couldnt care less about that. if they fixed the xb, instead of being so slow, and inaccessible. then i would love my ps3 to bits. but right now, its okay and still the most expensive console out there.

I do think Sony was wrong to get rid of Backwards Compatibility... Or at least to not put it back in, and then sell the games on the network.. But, only Nintendo has true BC this generation, only some Xbox games work on the 360.. & I also agree I don't like that they got rid of OtherOS, just because of that Hotz kid. I think they should have at tried every single way that the smart cookies at Sony could think of to fix it, instead of getting rid of the feature as a whole.

& I'll probably never even touch a PSPgo, but they aren't stopping support for the regular PSP, so it's really a non-issue. But, if Sony's next handheld is completely download-only, I won't be buying it..

& Both Sony and M$ need to get the fudge out of the motion controls game.

xbox live is a 100 times better hands down. Im sorry but if you think that psn is the same as xbox live then you are extremely miss informed. Any multi plat game that has online will be more enjoyable on the 360 because of all the extra features and reliability. And exclusives are even better. thats the main reason for owning a 360 over a ps3 in my opinion. If you don't care for online then I would defiantly buy a ps3 over the 360.

PSN is free, and I read a lot of comments where people try to compare a free service to one that charges. (It's ridicules in my opinion) As for your opinion on XBL vs PSN online comparison....well dedicated servers are recognized as the better choice of gaming. PSN (and PS3's Cell technology/processor) allows for MORE moving people, vehicles, and particles, during multiplayer matches. XBL is charging people for something that it simply does not provide. (Rather you like them or not, Resistance 1-2, MAG, and Killzone 2, could not be reached on the 360 XBL setup.

I do agree that XBL is better with cross game chat, friends accessibility, and has a pretty Nintendo wii "rip off" set up.....but $40-$50 a year makes these few extra features minimal. (XBL doesn't even give full internet surfing, free wifi, and it's down for maintlence just as much as FREE PSN) At the end of the day, PSN is a FREE service. Now, when Sony begins it's premium services, then we can argue, but until then....FREE is always better! (Fanboy or not, I'm sure most people would agree....which is why people REALLY prefer the 360. PIRATING IS EASY, SIMPLE, AND GAMES ARE DAMN NEAR FREE)

Were do you buy your Blu-ray films because Wal-Mart and Target sell say Blu-ray films for $15-30 dollars brand new. So how is the dual shock controller 3 outdated it does have the same button configuration like the last two controllers but does it. I have owned damn near EVERY gaming console invented, and have went through multiple Xbox 360's. From my experience, dedicated servers (Regardless the system using them) are better IMO. XBL is a lot of fun, and does offer both cross game chat, and accessibility to friends online. HOWEVER, PSN works just as well for online connectivity, games, and invites. ($40-$50 bucks a year is not worth only having cross game chat to brag about.) I won't smash one man's/women's opinion, but for $300 bucks...ONLY A MORON WOULD ARGUE AGANST GETTING SYSTEM THAT HAS NO RROD, LESS THAN 9% FAIL RATE, GREAT (I MEAN, THE BEST!) And I can't even remember the last time PSN randomly disconnected me, I can however remember the last time I played a game on XBL only to hear 14-year-olds dropping the F- and N-bomb like it was going out of style.

And as for backward compatibility? Granted I still have my 60GB, I can say with absolute honesty I haven't even had the desire to play a PS2 game in over two years. I've bought 6 or 7 PS1 games on it....haven't touched them. The nostalgia is nice but once I started playing them they just don't do it for me anymore compared to current-gen games.

I give M$ my moneys, and feel completely satisfied with it. I have so many multiplayer games though, and a bunch of friends on XBL.. So, really, it's worth it for me. Plus, party chat is a godsend. && I haven't heard a 14 year old since when I played Halo 3 for months after it came out .. Because, well, they introduced party chat. I only have to talk to people that I actually want to talk to. Plus, there is that handy dandy mute button, which I definitely use when people are annoying and I'm actually in game chat.

I do have a PS3 though, and I've played a few online games. I didn't get disconnected, but I also found no one to talk to since no one that I came across had headsets, since they aren't standard issue with the console.. While the 360, if you get anything other than the arcade, comes with a headset, for better or worse. Mostly better, since I've met a bunch of awesome people on L4D. But, PSN is free, XBL isn't. I would not pay for PSN if they made me, but I do pay for XBL and I'm completely good with it..

Lack of PS2 game comparability is something that Sony should bring back. Removing the Other OS was retarded. PSN Network is just as good as xbox live but is the browser that feels pretty outdated. Microsoft removed the ability to play xbox 1 games online and gamers didn't have a problem with that. Playstation Move wait and see approach on it. That's my two cents.

I find it funny that people say online gaming is better on Live.It's not quite true.The user experience and continuity are better,no doubt but online play?Not in my experience.There are more drop outs and worse lag on most Live games I've played compared to PS3 and the big thing no one mentions is the lousy player count.On PS3 Killzone,Warhawk have been my biggest multiplayer games and I always play the 32 player matches(by choice.I have played smaller).Live offers no large multiplayer.I've heard the Halo is better at 16 players,but how do you know?
