NG: We have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by The Penal Zone. An advanced graphical engine and a move toward direct control were a given, but what we didn't expect was for Telltale to up its game so considerably, reinventing the Sam & Max template in ways that nobody knew they needed until faced with them. And if this first episode is any indication of the benchmark set for the series as a whole, then we're in for a very funny, very clever five months of madcap animal sleuthing.

Maybe “husky” is a good way to put it, or “stout”. What I was really getting at is that I like the characters, the adventure gameplay, and the style of humor that can be found in the existing Sam & Max series of games. I might even own some paraphernalia, which makes me the target audience and then some for the series’ debut on the iPad".
TouchGen writes: "There are so many cool duos out there, and Sam & Max are among the quirkiest. The sensible canine Sam combined with the crazed rabbit Max are yet again tracking down peril to choke it out. This time the duo has to stop the intergalactic menace called Skunk’ape".
