Zaxxon is a game that IGN encourages you to appreciate for its visual achievement in the early '80s, and its contribution to the development of flight games as a whole. But it's not a game they encourage you to actually buy. Save your Wii Points for a classic that's aged more gracefully than this one, and leave Zaxxon to keep on flying only in conversations of the past.

Time of another episode of retro arcade game comparison to retro console ports. Today we will be looking at Sega's awesome achievement of a game Zaxxon with it's 3D look and isometric gameplay and this was made in 1983!
Nintendo Life writes: "In 1982 Sega made a little gaming history with Zaxxon: the first 3D arcade game to use an isometric perspective – even more shockingly, it used sprite-based graphics at a time when 3D games were pretty much all being done with vectors. Whilst Zaxxon got a lot of attention due to its flashy graphics and fancy analogue flight stick, even in 1982 it was arguably over-hyped. Aside from the analogue control in the upright cabinet making the game hard to control with precision, the isometric perspective tended to cause a lot of problems for players – though neither of these issues were enough to stop the game from being a big seller in the arcades."
