Nintendo has just announced that Metroid: Other M and Sin and Punishment 2 have been delayed. New dates have been issued for those titles as well as WiiWare/DSiWare releases.
When Nintendo told me that they don't comment on rumors and speculation, I had a feeling they would be delayed...
I think it is a good move by Nintendo. They can create extra hype and polish those games a little more and release them around Thanksgiving. They most likely will sell more copies that way.
It isn't much of a delay. I doubt it's even for polishing or changing voice acting. They probably just wanted to space their big releases out so that they aren't cannibalizing sales.
I do agree they should push it to the Thanksgiving/Christmas timeslot just in case Zelda gets delayed to 2011. As for Sin & Punishment, it's only two days, it doesn't make much of a difference, they just need to give us all the hype at E3. Off topic: Doesn't anyone think they should add Classic Controller (Pro) and GameCube Controller support to Other M. The NES style of playing the game doesn't seem to be too comfortable.
Their deleting their best games.
A two week delay for Sin & Punishment 2 and a two month delay for Other M by no means equals deletion. In fact, it will probably help Nintendo by preventing their titles from competing with each other. Cool as the original three games in two months release schedule was, I always thought it was a little crazy, and I couldn't see how Nintendo stood to profit. The confirmed release date for Other M also puts an end to the speculation that it was being pushed back to replace Zelda Wii for the holidays. Aug 31 is way too early for that.
that Photo Dojo will be free for it's first month! Definitely picking that thing up hehe.
Hmm, I am thinking it might be due to pressure from Koei because Nintendo is publishing Samurai Warriors 3 soon and Koei will want it to have enough room. I dunno though. At least it's not too long of a delay and August is when the last Metroids released. But do the delays apply to Europe at all? We didn't have a date for Metroid and we're suppsoed to be getting S&P too earlier.
Good! Make Metroid better!
So I get disagrees and the guy below gets agrees when we said essentially the same thing? Ok
Now i have time to play okami, little king story, silent hill shattered memories and no more heroes 2. oh, and fragile dreams.
Metroid Prime : other M will release aug 31. Uhhh, is Nintendo scared that they have not enough games to fight against Natal, Halo Reach, Move, GT5 etc thay will pop in sept/oct ?? I guess that Nintendo gave up on making Wii's games since they are delaying their games now. Probablly all their attention is focused on the new N3ds and a possible new console.
You do know that Other M has been in development since 2006, right? It's hardly "giving up" on the console, when Zelda, TLS, Xenoblade, Retro's game and Project Sora are all still in the pipeline, too. Look at the prior release dates for the past few Metroids. That'll tell you why it was given the release date in August. Plus, it makes sense to space out big first-party releases.
noooooooooooo not metriod prime the other m boooooooooooooooo come on i was looking forward to that game ^.^
and they are delaying those games so they can include them in the show to make it seem like its actually a good line up they have. Because think about it, they will announce new software at e3, when will that new software be released if they are delaying games that were meant to be out in the second quarter? My quess is the entire release schedule will be pushed back. Yes, zelda in 2011.
They just didn't want Super Mario Galaxy 2 to overshadow Metroid and Sin and Punishment. At least, that's what makes sense from my perspective. Think about it, all three titles were being released in around a month's time. Recently Monster Hunter Tri was released. Nintendo is probably just spreading out their releases, and giving each the time to shine.
yeah, probably. because there a lot of big titles being released in a short space of time. i can hardly afford them all, let alone find the time to play them!
Don't forget the fact that they're publishing Samurai Warriors 3 and Fling Smash as well!
Honestly, I welcome this. Personally, this means more time to finish SMG2 and catch up on titles I was too broke to buy earlier this year. This also means that maybe they aren't pushing S&P2 out to die. Giving it space to breathe between two major releases is definitely good news for a title that would have been neglected (by both Nintendo and consumers) otherwise.
Sin and Punishment 2 is the best looking game on wii and game play is amazing if u own a wii like my self make sure you buy it
I can't wait for both. :)
It needs polishing gameinformer said the controls are very clunky.
GI also gave MPT a second opinion score of 7 (apparently that reviewer has NO IDEA how to play FPS/FPA with Wii controls). Sorry, they are one source that I don't trust on anything Wii-related.
True gameinformer kinda sucks don't like there reviews but I like the previews.
It isn't Metroid PRIME: Other M. It's just METROID: Other M. Metroid Prime is it's own storyline and trilogy. That's it. You should know this by now people
Fine by me, delay it all you want Nintendo. A delay from nintendo means more polish and fixes. There's a reason nintendo games rarely have to be patched.
well nintendo is the master of delays anyway, everyone knew they would delay it...
